Jeni Burckart I had $132,000 in student loan debt. I made a mistake during repayment that cost me over $7,000.
Jeni Burckart I wish it was something magical but it isn't. I sit down at my computer and tell myself I will write for a minimum of 10 minutes. If I hate it I can stop after 10 minutes. The other thing that sometimes helps is actually writing with pen and paper, that's gotten me out of a bind quite often. It just feels so much more accomplished to fill up pages with ink.
Jeni Burckart Just do it. You're always going to feel like you're not ready, like you suck, and like no one will want to read what you wrote. And maybe some of that is true but you'll never move forward and gain experience, get good at writing, and gain an audience to read your book if you don't write.
Jeni Burckart I'm working on beefing up the repayable.org website so that it clearly directs folks searching for student loan information to the topics that apply to them. I don't want a beginner to feel overwhelmed by an in-depth article on refinancing for example. So I'm spending most of my writing time now working on shorter blog-type posts.
Jeni Burckart I got the idea to write Repayable from a costly mistake I made repaying my own student loan debt. That, and complaining constantly to my boyfriend who finally said something along the lines of "If you think things are messed up then why don't you do something to fix them?" So I did.
