The books that are solicited for BARR (www.blackauthorsandreadersrock.com) are placed in the swag bags and given to attendees. This year I included a list of authors who donated, including their contact information, and asked anyone who received a book from one of those authors, to reach out and thank them and perhaps write a review.

Being able to share my thoughts with others. Also, I love the people I meet and the doors I've been able to open and that have been open for me in the literary community - doors that I never thought I would be able to enter.

I walk away. I do something completely different that doesn't involve writing or reading, sort out my thoughts and retackle the project.

I don't have a favorite fictional couple. I read "in the moment", many different authors and genre and though I may love the book I'm currently reading, when I am finish it, I move on to the next read.

Hi Leticia,
Though there are no author slots available for October, I encourage you to attend the event (tickets are still available (https://2016-rockweekend.eventbrite.com) so that you can network with avid readers, book club members and other authors. As a new author, the networking experience is very important to getting the word about your book to the people who would love to read it.

Thanks for asking, Selena. I am currently torn - somedays I feel strongly that I should update my first book, Plan It! Because it is a resource guide and and things constantly change, I think it is something that will have to done in order for it to remain relevant. At other times I am committed to finishing a work of fiction that I started several months ago. Maybe I'll work on both.

The inspiration for my current book was the need I saw for the information I wrote about. As I was looking for information when I founded my own book club, I located many articles on the mechanics of starting a club, but none which guided you through the many pitfalls that you encounter while doing so. I included information based on my experiences with"literary" event planning, because I often attended events that could have been great with a little more planning and attention to detail. And last but certainly not least, because book clubs are fast becoming one of the most important partnerships that an author can and should cultivate, I shared tips on how writers and readers can form a mutual admiration society.

When I founded The Reading Divas Book Club in 1998, I looked around for information on best practices for book clubs and found very little. Fast forward several years, I found myself in a position to offer advice to other clubs and realized many would benefit from a comprehensive resource guide on the subject.
