Write about what you know, it's easier that way. If you can't write about what you know, research as much as possible before you really get started. You'll have less to change later.

I write. Sometimes I just re-write stuff I have already written. Sometimes I write stuff that has nothing to do with what I'm trying to work on. I also read constantly. Reading other people's words seems to help sometimes.
