Cindy Charity The idea of the series I am working on, came to me a long time ago. I believe it was ten years or so. I was living in a small town (I'm city born and raised) and was going a bit stir crazy. I had a book on Celtic Mythology, and as I read through it, the idea of the Divided Star series was born. It has had many drafts since then, but what it has turned out to be is something I am very proud of.
Cindy Charity There are days where I don't want to write, trust me! But my characters never let me off the hook ;) Oh, they may give me a day or two to do other things, but then I get agitated and have to boot up my laptop. On those days, I will grab a book by a favorite author (Nora Roberts can cure anything for me!) Sometimes, I just sit down at my desk and open a new file and just type. Most of the time it's gibberish lol but it gets the creative juices flowing.
Cindy Charity Currently, I am putting the finishing touches on The Messenger, book three in my Divided Star Series.
Cindy Charity Another great question. I will share with you the one piece of advice I received over and over: read---a lot! You have to find your own voice, and style, but reading will help you discover both of those things. Along with reading, write. If there's a story in your head that keeps you up, or interrupts your day because it's constantly evolving, write it out. It may not be perfect, but you can fix that :) And ask tons of questions. I do, and I found that authors are always willing to share what they know.
Cindy Charity I love sharing what my mind conjures up. It can be scary, because as a writer, you're inviting strangers to your world, hoping they like it as much as you do. However, I get so excited when someone tells me that I've done my job well, because they could 'see' what I had written.
Cindy Charity Good question!
When I get stuck, I have three go to activities (they haven't let me down--yet!) Zoning out to music, while on a long walk, pacing throughout my house and ranting to anyone who's home (not a favorite in my house lol) and reading.
