Rachel Spanswick Solitaire. Binge reading one of my favourite series. I also have a folder called 'Never gonna happen unless I'm drunk' which is full of really strange book ideas, which funnily enough always motivate me.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Rachel Spanswick Getting a message, email or letter from somebody telling you how your book made them feel. As strange as it sounds, nothing makes me prouder of myself than knowing that somebody cried while reading one of my books. It's a powerful thing to be able to bring out emotions with what is essentially 'just words', but if you actually invest so much into the story that you cry when something happens, well, that's a job well done.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Rachel Spanswick I spent a year working through some personal problems, during that time I had some really bad times and in the end I felt the best way to deal with it was to write about it.

How do you get inspired to write?

Rachel Spanswick Reading great books. If I read a great book, one that I just can't put down and I'm still thinking about a week later, that inspires me. That's the feeling I want to create.
