Serena Burdick The title is often a collaborative effort between the author, editor and marketing team. This book went through three titles before we landed on THE GIRLS WITH NO NAMES. It can be a tricky balance pleasing the writer and publishing team, but I was really happy with this title in the end.
Serena Burdick Hi! I am so sorry I haven't responded. I do zoom into bookclubs, and would love a chance to be apart of yours next year if you have any desire to read my latest novel THE STOLEN BOOK OF EVELYN AUBREY. It comes out November 1, 2022.

I am sorry I missed this!
Warmly,
Serena
Serena Burdick It's a true story so it didn't come from me! It came from Nina Lopez, the daughter of Estelita Rodriguez. Twenty years ago, she told me her mother's story and I was riveted. All these years later I was finally able to properly interview her and put this story out into the world. Hopefully I've done it justice.
Serena Burdick I am obsessed with stories in all forms. I read as much as I can, and probably watch more television than is good for me. I gather ideas from others. People are always telling stories, bits and pieces of their daily life, their past, what happened to them just the other day at the grocery store. I tuck the interesting ones away, observe, listen, gather odd characters and bazaar happenings. It all inspires me while I write.
Serena Burdick I have just finished edits for my next novel that will be release January 12, 2021 called FIND ME IN HAVANA. It is based on the true story of Hollywood actress and singer Estelita Rodriquez. I am currently starting another book that takes place in Alaska during the 1964 earthquake.
Serena Burdick Finish, finish, finish! I think too often projects are abandoned before a writer has a chance to really work it. It is my belief that only through thorough editing can a piece of work really stand out. We have no idea how many bad sentences were written by great writers before something surfaced worth keeping.
Serena Burdick Getting to be the creator of my own stories and characters. I was an actor for years and found it frustrating to be given vapid stories or unimaginative parts. As I writer, I am in complete control over the world I am creating.
Serena Burdick I push through it and write something, anything, even if it makes no sense until the right words come along.
Serena Burdick I would travel to Jane Austen's Mansfield Park and sip tea in an English garden.
Serena Burdick Valentine, by Elizabeth Wetmore
Visit From the Goon Squad, Jennifer Egan
Olive, Again, Elizabeth Strout
