Sam Edens Hi Jeff, no relatives that I know of in the Pacific Northwest. My only relatives on the Edens side are in the Netherlands. My father in laws family came to Canada shortly after the war.
Sam Edens The greatest thing about being an author is witnessing the birth of a world. Characters, places, and creatures that half an hour ago were a blank word document now talk, breath and live. It is a surreal experience.
Sam Edens I am currently working on the next book in the Ash, Blood and Bone series. I am also working on a few short fiction pieces, a few of which are set in Avros.
Sam Edens Ash, Blood and Bone started off as a recurring nightmare. Dreams of creatures that are like us but when agitated or threatened shift into beasts.
The idea that beasts reside in all of us is a favorite of mine. We grow attached to characters that strongly represent the extremes in our society. I wanted to play with that concept by saying : OK, here are people that have the ability to shift into beasts, what drives them to keep their humanity? As well, what is the balancing point between keeping in touch with their bestial roots and achieving a human sense of civility?
