I love the advice from Esther Freud: "Don't wait for inspiration. Discipline is the key." It was helpful for me to realize writing is a practice for which my first job is to show up. That said, it's important to cultivate renewal and inspiration from everything else (relationships, time in nature, food, exercise, sleep...) to keep going, and to enjoy the journey!
