Understand that if you can complete a work, you will then enter the hell of publishing it. You will most likely self publish. It, too, will be hell. If you pass through that, you have to sell it. Different kind of hell.
Without regard to the 2/3rds of the process sucking, writing is writing just as it always has been.

The old advice is the best:
Try to write one true sentence.
Show it, don't say it.
Let the reader figure it out.
Get the weather in.
Every asshole can write narrative. Let your characters live through their words.
If you must narrate, pretend you are there and the audience is watching in 8mm. Clarify.
Every character is a bad one and a good one.
Get away from yourself. We don't care about you.

Work hard.

L. Todd Webb I have never suffered from writer's block.
When I set to "write" and know generally where I want to go, my greatest challenge is to keep from getting too tangential but at the same time letting the story meander as the characters dictate. Sometimes I get ten pages in and realize that there is little relevance to the chapter, but the material end up becoming good reinforcement for the character's development or is sometimes used later. Save everything!
