Usually, if it feels like "writer's block", it's really just something inside me or my story or God telling me that I've blindly run into the wall in my personal labyrinth and that I simply need to turn and try a different angle. The moment I do that there is no block at all and typically I find that the direction I head is SO MUCH BETTER than where I was trying to head in the first place :)

This answer is NOT meant to be sacrilegious, just sincere.
I love playing god in my own little world. It helps me understand God better, understand myself better, understand those around me and makes sense of life. It's wonderfully enlightening and therapeutic as well as extremely enjoyable :)

Step 1: Create some free time.
Step 2: Make an emotional playlist on iTunes (a bipolar mixture is the best...sad music mixed with pop mixed with intense soundtracks mixed with opera mixed with...you get the idea).
Step 3: Remove ALL expectations.
Step 4: Start listening and see where it takes you. Write down anything that seems even remotely useful.
Step 5: Like a painter with finger paint, start mushing things together, running your fingers from one blob of color to the next. See what combines well, the crazier the better.
Step 6: Step back when you are out of time or feel like you've got something and start looking for what looks like the most fun to explore/write and yet still fits your story and run with it. See where it takes you and what it does to your story.
Step 7: Share it with a good (sane) friend who can tell you if you're crazy or if you're on to something and you're off to the races again :)

I am currently working on the next book in The Soulscape Code series :) At the moment, the working title is "Angels & Animals", but that may change depending on how the writing goes. I'm so excited to finish every book I've planned. I'm committed to making each one more exciting and satisfying than the one before and I hope to be able to deliver on that commitment.

Be passionate. Be adventurous. Be you. I find that writing and publishing are more about courageous, passionate work than sparkling skill. Where there is a will, there is a way and if you are brave enough to write and work hard enough to take your passionate plans to reality, then there are very few things in life that would even pose a challenge. And the fun part about it all is, that, if your passionate enough, even the challenges excite you and give you something exhilarating to look forward to.
