Inspiration has come from my Christian spiritual devotional practices, reading, ministry, education, and life experiences. Listening to what others share deeply from their heart is important too. I like to write heart-to-heart, so knowing what matters most to people is of great interest to me.

(view spoiler)[“It’s time,” God stated matter-of-factly.
Time? Time for what? I wondered. . . .
Deep in my heart, I feared what God might mean by it. If what I feared was right, then it would largely be independent of the state of my health. The thought of writing about the divine interventions and grace that I had received from Him kept coming to mind. But I did not want to open my heart, my life, and my experiences to others. Our personal relationship with God is just that—personal! . . .
I was reluctant to change my life, reluctant to plumb the depths of my relationship with Him, and reluctant to process the most significant issue: the manner in which God has intervened in my life. That was the 800-pound gorilla in my spiritual life—the one I had been desperately trying to avoid talking about, but which I very much needed to address.
You see, where I come from, people don’t talk about supernatural things—unless it was something that happened 2,000 or more years ago. Yet it was clear that there was no more time for personal reluctance. It was no longer up to me to decide. His work in my life was no longer just for me. Instead “it was time” for me to work with Him to understand His divine interventions, His leading and grace in my life, and how He builds and maintains an intimate relationship with us. God’s telling me “It’s time” proved to be the divine impetus to write this book.
[I was] forced me to surrender my self-pity and meet with God again in that deep place where my heart connects with Him. That place where my life, my heart, and my motivations are transparent to Him. The place where I have encountered His perfect character, holiness, power, righteousness, unfathomable love, healing touch, and gracious forgiveness. That place where the Master Potter attempts to form me into Christlikeness and succeeds to the degree that I submit to His efforts.

I devote myself to my writing. In order to inspire Christian spiritual growth in others, I must continuously deepen my own relationship with God through Christ. Prayer, Bible study, journaling, reading widely, and, although I have a doctorate, I take additional graduate courses.
