I just finished the Heirloom Garden and have read all your books. Although I have loved them all I would have to say this was the best one. I loved the characters and the relationships that you developed for each one. I think that a relationship between a child and an older person is very special. I had a relationship with a elderly woman neighbor when I was a child that I have not thought about until I read about Lily and Iris. The story also brought to mind the stories my Dad used to tell me about being in the Coast Guard and going to Michigan on the Cadet Cruises. I loved everything about this book except it ended and I wanted to know more. I feel that I had spent vacation with 4 friends and that my vacation is over and I have left them. I can't wait to read your next book. I would love to be able to read an ARC copy if you are looking for people to read it. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer with your garden but please keep on writing your marvelous books and I will continue to read them and recommend them to others.

I am lucky I never have writers block. I write each morning for 3-5 hours and the exercise to clear my head. Many stories come to me as I run or workout. If I am stuck in an area on a novel, I will write an essay or something else. I love to write so no matter what each day I get something written.

Thanks so very much for coming out to the event. So glad you enjoyed all three of the books!
My other Grandmother's name is Madge Rouse. Both the publisher and I agreed that Viola Shipman was a better pen name to use. My Grandma Viola was also the one that encouraged me to write. Both were wonderful!
