Try not to get discouraged. There are so many people writing books at present, that it's very difficult to make yourself distinguishable from everyone who thinks they are a great novelist. ALWAYS have your work edited by a professional. No matter how good you think you are, you will never have the objectivity to edit your own stuff for errors in logic.

I walk my dog and, during our walks, I think about my characters and their reactions to the dilemmas in their lives. I try to think about plot twists and turns to add drama to my narrative.

The inspiration came from my mother's family and their struggles during the Great Depression. I added the ghost of a dead child who haunted the house where she lived, seeking retribution for her violent and untimely death.
