The best thing about being a writer is the wonderfully cathartic process of allowing your imagination take over as each character in your manuscript directs the outcome. Of’times they surprise the hell out of me.

My advice for aspiring writers? Heck, I still consider myself one. But, if I were to give some it would be the same advice I have had given to me: Get into a regular habit of writing with word goals, revise-revise-revise, and learn to recover quickly from rejection (still working on that one).

I suspect my interest in writing came as a result of realizing in school that I actually enjoyed doing research papers. It also struck me that in my work environment, I found myself crafting emails, editing them in Word and then pasting them into the email – just a little over the top.
