Nalanda was the world's first residential seat of learning with the typical structure of a modern day university. it had a vice chancellor, a registrar and a controller of admissions as the three pillars of administration alongside deans and professors in a variety of subjects. That such a magnificent place of learning existed for a thousand years was awe inspiring.
