R.J. City Having people respond to your writing is pretty sweet. Especially when they have nice things to say about your writing style. Unfortunately, it's not fun to receive criticism through these same response, but that's the life of a writer!
R.J. City It usually starts out with a dream or personal experience. The Hunters Trilogy, for example, started out as the end of a dream before I woke up. It was a pretty simple concept at the time, but it quickly took off from there.
R.J. City I usually listen to music and get inspiration from there. If it doesn't work out, I always either reread a book of the same genre as I write or I try something new that's similar. (It's not stealing, trust me!)
R.J. City Take constructive criticism (any criticism, really), but don't take it to heart. There will always be someone out there that enjoys your writing, and that means there will also be someone who despises your writing. Don't let those who put your work down keep you from writing and pursuing your goal as a writer.
R.J. City I'm currently editing and revising my first book, The Blood Diamond, for publication purposes.
