Roma Gray Sorry - just saw this. I'm working on it now and hope the sequel will come out this May or June, along with the prequel which I just finished and sent to the publisher last week.

Roma Gray I no longer feel like a piece of myself is missing.

It was a lifetime goal but it was the typical story of one rejection letter after another. I became so frustrated I simply gave up. But I always felt unhappy, like my life was empty. Then I self-published my book and it's been pure gold the entire year! I've sold multiple stories and I recently signed a book deal with a publisher for my next book (a novel).

Even if I die tomorrow, I'll feel like I did something of value ... even though it's only valuable to me!
Roma Gray I do two things: 1) walk my dog and 2) Use zero drafts.

Typically in the beginning, I have some basic idea for a story. For example, in my book "Gray Shadows Under a Harvest Moon", the story "Summer Vacation" was a source of endless frustration. I wanted to write a story about a pit similar to the Money Pit on Oak Island, but couldn't figure out the rest of it. So, I walked my dog in the afternoons after work for several days and thought about what I was really trying to accomplish with this story. Then I wrote several zero drafts (this is when you just let the story go where it wants to go). In the end I came up with this story and people seem to love it. One of my more popular stories.

I used to answer that I don't get writer's block, but now I realize I do, I just have such a good system in place that it doesn't slow me down anymore.
