Hello Vizzy. Yes I do, the working title is 'Zahra's Choice' I'm working on this at the moment. Zahra leaves Iran and has to adjust to living in an English-speaking country. Any more information would be a spoiler!

The book evolved over many years. I lived in the Middle East and visit every year, so felt comfortable writing about it. I wanted to write about strong women in adverse circumstances. Putting my characters against a background of revolution tested all of them.

There are always characters floating around in my consciousness. An incident, or a chance comment from someone might get me thinking. I often take public transport rather than the car, all human life is out there!

Write a detailed synopsis and chapter plan so that the logic of your narrative is maintained. In the past I've rushed at things, written two or three great chapters then run out of ideas.

When you've finished something and you know you've really made your characters come alive on the page--that's a real buzz.

I'm fortunate to live near the ocean and a seaside town. I can walk along the beach and mingle with holiday makers. If you're writing about people then you need to be near them, so I've got the best of both worlds. I start walking at the end of the surf beach to clear my head then sit in a cafe and watch the passing parade.
