I have no mysterys in my life; I am an open book...... just ask. My memoir, Wherever the Road Leads, shares travel and intimate moments while living in a van with my new husband in 1972-73. My next book may be about a mystery that surrounds the story of my Grandmother and an aunt.

I keep busy with the rest of my life, but I'm always thinking about the writing project in the back of my mind. The ideas eventually come. This "style" is why it took me 20 years to write my first book, so I don't necessarily recommend it.

Keep at it -- persistence will pay off. Love words and read a lot.
Take writing classes, join a writing group, attend writing workshops -- in short -- educate yourself in the art and profession of writing.
You can't do it alone. You need readers (of the manuscript) who will make suggestions and ask questions. Treasure their input. And in the end, you will need a great editor -- hire one if you must, but get an editor!

I met my father's younger brother for the first time when I was an adult, but once we met, we stayed in touch. Sometime in the 1990s, I asked him about his wartime experiences. When I learned of his role as an interrogator of German prisoners and his later work as an investigator for the Nuremberg Trials, I knew I had to tell his story. Over more than a decade, I recorded hours of interviews with my uncle and other relatives, did extensive research, and finally met and talked to many Ritchie Boys (men, who, like my uncle, trained during World War II for US Army intelligence at Camp Ritchie, Maryland.) This process was a time of discovery that led to my novel, Immigrant Soldier.
