C.A. Bryers While there are a few I'd like to check out, I'd probably go with the biased answer and take a trip to my own Odyssium world, just to see if the people there are anything like the way I'd written them.
C.A. Bryers One sentence: When I woke up, I realized with a terrifying certainty that it was, in fact, Monday.
C.A. Bryers Since I tend to keep myself busy between family, work, and writing, I don't usually have time for a full night's sleep, let alone sitting down to read a physical book. I do audiobooks on commutes, and that's how I get my reading fix in. This summer I've read a good few--READY PLAYER ONE by Ernest Cline was fantastic and Terry Brooks' STREET FREAKS was a welcome diversion from his usual fare. I did a couple music biographies, like Gene Simmons' KISS AND MAKE UP and Motley Crue's THE DIRT, which each had their ups and downs. Right now I'm partaking in my annual tradition of listening to Star Wars radio dramas, which include DARK EMPIRE (I & II), CRIMSON EMPIRE, and the DARK FORCES trilogy.
C.A. Bryers The idea for THE 13th PARAGON books came from a previous book I'd written with the intent to publish. That book was the first in a proposed trilogy, and so I looked for ideas for a spin-off to write a stand-alone novel. 13th PARAGON turned into two books, but that's how it started. Salla Saar was going to appear in the second book of that unfinished trilogy, so I decided to flesh him out with PARAGON.
C.A. Bryers Sometimes I just feel the need to write, other times I have to force myself if I'm going to get anything done. Now that I've started the publishing ball rolling, I know I'm going to have to put my nose to the grindstone a lot more than I have in the past.
C.A. Bryers No advice yet! I'm a newbie learning the ropes as I go, so follow my lead with caution!
C.A. Bryers Currently, as of Feb. 2015, I'm doing editing approvals on Part II of THE 13th PARAGON, and I'll be following that up with approvals for the novella that will also release later this year. After that, I'll be starting work on a sub-series to ODYSSIUM, a set that will consist of shorter works with perhaps the oddball novel creeping in here and there. That's about building a catalog more so than the desire to do shorter books. I have a full outline for the first regular ODYSSIUM novel set to go, but first things first.
C.A. Bryers I typically don't have much of a problem with writer's block--I outline the bejeezus out of my stories before I start properly writing them, which is a sanity-saver. There are certainly stumbling blocks along the way where I wish I had a story consultant in my back pocket, but those spates of writing anguish only last a few days before I work out a solution.
C.A. Bryers Being able to get the story out of your head and onto paper. It's sort of like exorcising a demon, if I can be so dramatic. If I haven't written it, the story is always lurking at the back of my mind. Once it's finished though, that nagging urge to get it out of my head goes away. Of course, once that voice is gone, there are always more. It's a process of silencing them one at a time.
