I loved Paula Hawkins' new one, Into the Water. Gillian Flynn is a favorite. I've read all her books and loved Gone Girl. I recently enjoyed The Girl Before by J.P. Delaney. I love Dennis Lehane's Shutter Island and Tana French's Broken Harbor.

(view spoiler)[So I just finished this book and thought it was just awesome. If I am correct...isn't Camilla ( the housekeeper at Dina's house) Ana in disguise?
Also, why will Ana have to wait 15 years until she can get to Brazil and be with Sophia and her parents? (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Yes she is Camilla. Ryan knows it by the end, but he lets her off because he sympathizes with her. His own daughter was, in a sense, taken from him after his divorce and he has spent a good deal of the book missing his kid. So, it struck me that he would have a soft spot for a mother whose husband tried to cut her out of her child's life (not to mention kill her and collect on her insurance policy).
As for the second part, Ana doesn't necessarily have to wait 15 years to be with Sophia. She has to wait until the policy pays off and her parents can find a way to smuggle her into Brazil. How long it takes depends on how motivated they are to sneak her into the country and how far the money goes to getting the necessary false documents.
I think the 15 years is coming from something I'd written about Ana's parents. They are not allowed to bring Sophia back into the U.S. for 15 years because they were deported. Usually, if you overstay a visa or enter the U.S. without documentation and stay more than a year, you are banned from coming back for 10 years. Her parents were actively deported and had some other mitigating factors that made the ban 15 years. (hide spoiler)]

I like Paul and Claire from The Dinner. Paul loves his wife and she loves him in spite of his, no spoilers, so let's just say idiosyncrasies.

Write anyway. If you throw everything away at the end of the day, so be it. At least you didn't stare at a screen. Write your way through it.

The financial crisis changed the circumstances of many people. I started to wonder how it would impact a once wealthy couple overextended with debt and how far individuals might go to hang on to their idea of the good life.
