The shadows moved as if they were alive, breathing shallow breaths, and we found out all too soon there was evil lurking in them. One, two, three, the only one left was me, but barring my escape was a room full of shadows.

Honestly, being able to read books you know you will love. Many times I'll pick up a book with a fancy cover, but the story doesn't grab me. Another great perk is spending time exploring the world deeper. As a writer, you can spend as much time as you want deep in the pages of your book. It's really quite wonderful.

There are two types of blocks: 1) I know where I'm going, but I'm stuck in the mud, and 2) I don't know where I'm going. With 1, you just have to throw it in four wheel drive and plow through it. Sit down and write even if it hurts. With 2, I like to exercise patience, maybe take some time off to review the story, where it's going, how it will end, etc. It doesn't hurt to rest your brain. Just don't lax into bad habits during this break.
