Hi Julia, as a huge fan of the cat royal series (it's the only book series i have COMPLETELY finished) I would love to know if the publishers have given the go ahead for a new book in the series?. I feel like the ending of Cats Cradle left room for so much more adventures with Cat and so I would be delighted to know if you had any plot ideas in store? A reply would be much appreciated!

It wasn't seen by me as the last. I have the last planned and am waiting my chance (that means renewed interest from a publisher). At the moment the interest is low, but if the musical of The Diamond of Drury Lane gets the green light soon, then that might change.

Cat Royal Adventures is one of the few series that I actually reread. I absolutely love the character dynamics and the history you brought to life. That being said, it's been nearly 8 years since your last Cat Royal book. Do you plan on concluding Cat's story with another book, maybe even a short novella like "The Middle Passage", or is Cat's Cradle the last book in the series?

I really want to write another part - it is all planned, down to the title, but I'm waiting for Egmont the publisher to agree it is a good idea! Fingers crossed they let me do it.

Hi! XD I'm a big fan of Dragonfly and Glass Swallow theyre so touching and so real that I just love them and I just have to ask... I know Dragonfly and Glass Swallow were standalones but they were still interwoven and I've had my eye on The Silver Sea for almost 2 months now and was wondering if it was a completely separate story or remotely related to the previous 2 books? Also what inspired you most for these books?

Julia Golding Hi. That's a different book entirely, set in Viking times. There is a third book in draft in the Dragonfly world. I hope I can get that published in the next year or so.

I have certainly left the door open but I'm working on the Mel Foster series at the moment.

If you could ask any of your Cat Royal characters a question, who would you ask and what would you ask them?

Julia Golding I think I would ask Pedro how he is because I left him in the middle of a slave revolt in the Caribbean and I worry about him!

If you could live in any time period and country, where would you live? (i. e. Medieval France, Ancient Japan, 19th century Ethiopia)

Julia Golding Great question. I think I'd need some antibiotics to take with me but then I'd go back to 1790s London. I've read and thought about this a lot and set books there so it would be great to see it for real.

I imagine you get this question a lot, but I am curious as to whether you can tell me anything about the further Cat Royal books? I thought there were nine planned books, but I haven't seen any info on anything past book six.

That's right - unfortunately the publisher wanted to stop at six. I still hope I can return to round off the stories more satisfactorily as I wasn't aware Cat's Cradle might be the last when I was writing it.

Not at the moment as I'm busy with my new series about a Victorian boy called Mel Foster, but I'd like to get back to both and round off the series at some point. Issue was lack of publisher support.

Before I ask a a question, I must say I'm a huge fan of your work, and I can read, reread and re-reread your stories any day of the week! That being said, I am also a fan of the theatre, and I heard a rumor that The Diamond of Drury Lane from your Cat Royal series is being made into a musical. Is this true? If so, I love it already. If it's as good as the original, of course! :)

Julia Golding Yes, it is true and we are slowly making progress. The composers are now in talks with a couple of theatres and have someone lined up to write the 'book' for the musical. It is a long road though because musicals are expensive to stage and there is a long development process.

Julia Golding I take the dog for a walk - that usually does the trick.
