Asher Ellis I'd have to go with THE KILLER INSIDE ME. Extremely disturbing and realistic, I agree with Stanley Kubrick who once called it, "probably the most chilling and believable first-person story of a criminally warped mind I have ever encountered." I loved Thompson's inclusion of "needling," the practice Lou Ford does to channel his sadistic urges.
Asher Ellis I'm slowly but surely working on a sequel to THE REMEDY (titled THE THERAPY) which returns the reader to the I'll-fated town of Embry, VT. I can't say much more than that, in fear of ruining the end of the first book.

Also have a short novel/novella I'm currently editing called PET, which involves a death row inmate who wakes up after his execution to find himself imprisioned by a maniacal millionaire. Additionally, I have a first draft completed of a short novel called CRACKER JACK, which tells the story of a retired safecracker trapped in a mansion with a vengeful demon!

Lastly, I'm plugging away at a collaboration with SO CLOSE TO YOU trilogy author, Rachel Carter. It's a strange mix of post-apocalyptic YA, horror/thriller, and a dash of western too!
Asher Ellis King (of course, right?) has always been an influence, and many reviews of THE REMEDY have pointed out the similarities. (In particular, DREAMCATCHER.) But another significant influence was the visceral writing of Jack Ketchum and Richard Laymon, especially Ketchum's OFF SEASON and Laymon's THE WOODS ARE DARK. I should also mention that when writing a backwoods slasher, you can't overlook the work of Edward Lee!

And while they didn't inspire any of my debut novel's content, I am always aspiring to capture the lean yet heavy hitting prose of Richard Matheson, David Morrell, and Jim Thompson.
