I'm working on a Remembered Classics mystery and this one is VERY loosely based on Pride and Prejudice. So that's the germ of the idea. How it grows is all up to me.

Writing is a habit with me. I have to be disciplined because I work full-time, at least 40+ hours a week in a "regular" job. If I want to write, I have to be able to sit down and produce words when I have the time usually at night or during a few stolen moments during the day.
So I don't wait for inspiration. I do BICHOK: Butt In Chair, Hands on Keyboard. Words will follow.

I'm working on my "Remembered Classics Mysteries" series. I have 5 books done and about 4 more I'd like to write. I'm also working on the Endless American Dream series. That's a dystopian American romance/adventure set in the not-so-distant future. I have 4 books done out of the 9 I have planned for the first part of that series.

Two bits of advice:
1. Define for yourself what is 'success'. You can't control what happens after you publish a book. So if your goal is to be a best-selling author, that's largely out of your hands. Decide what will be success for you.
2. Learn the craft. Writing is creativity but it's also nuts & bolts of how to craft a story. Take workshops, study books, learn from others. Learn the craft.

It saves me from boredom.
Seriously. If I had to watch TV or movies as a means of entertainment, I'd probably be crazy. It's much more entertaining for me to play out dramas in my head.

I really don't have writer's block. I usually work on two books at once, so I just switch over to another until the glitch gets resolved.
