I think every writer has a different answer to that. Depending on what drives him or her to write. In my case I sought answers, and what I found made a great difference which I then wanted to pass on. Hence the book. Its the best medium for when one need to take a break and ponder.

In my case there are two types. If its putting it in print, outline it and take a rest, until the right words flow. If it is interpretation of findings, no rule, it will stay at the back of your mind until that mini eureka moment, then study afresh.

It is a drive to get what was found out to any one who wishes to know of it. It is a very different version of history, as the evidence shows.

Curiosity about an archaeological artifact. Then collecting and collating the data found. In the end it became a book. It is research not fiction.
