Lauren Wynn I just started a follow up to Out of the Ashes. We'll see where it takes me.
Lauren Wynn Three things:
1) Remind yourself what question you are trying to answer with you work?
2) Don't put a deadline on your work. Allow your mind to creatively flow without the burden of time.
3) If you dream it, you can write it.
Lauren Wynn I write when I have a question I need answered.
When I wrote Providence, I had one simple question that turned into a 30+ chapter answer: What would it look like if an angel came down from heaven and fell in love with a girl?
When I wrote Out of the Ashes, I was inspired by music. I listened to lots and lots of music and I answered the question: What would the journey look like for a famous musician to fall in love with an ordinary girl?
While writing, I remind of myself constantly of that single question I'm trying to answer and it opens a gigantic, creative world for me.
Lauren Wynn I write for fun and if I love the story I wrote, I publish it. I don't put deadlines on my works. Providence took me six months to write, but I was writing for myself, to answer a question I had in my own mind. I was inspired to write it. Out of the Ashes took me four years to complete, between having children and working a full-time job. I wrote chapters here and there as they came to me. Out of the Ashes is by far my favorite of the three novels I've written and I believe it's because I didn't put that pressure on myself to complete it. I wrote from the heart and that translated onto paper.
Lauren Wynn As a writer, your book is your world. If you dream it, you can write it. There is no right or wrong. It's a wonderful experience to let our creative juices flow.
Lauren Wynn I love music, I love listening to music, but I cannot play an instrument or sing to save my life. So... I wrote about it in Out of the Ashes. I also love a good love story. What better than writing a good love story featuring a famous, talented singer/songwriter/producer. Think Charlie Puth, Ryan Tedder, Sia, Ed Sheeran. Enter ordinary girl from Ohio and you've got yourself a fun journey.
