That's one of those things that you do as an act of defiance or bravado. Once the source of pressure for that attitude disappears, so does the behaviour. The Medeiri are (apparently) gone from the galaxy now. Same way air force pilots stopped painting their planes after WWII.

It wasn't directly part of the plot since they didn't produce an interstellar probe. However, given the 'consolidation' that was going on globally, it would most likely have become part of a larger nation or league, if only for mutual protection.

Yes, I think the series has at least two more books in it.

(view spoiler)[I have two questions that revolve around the deltans, 1 Why didn't Bob-1 try to replicate Archimedes when they weren't looking and will Bob-1 ever go back and visit the deltans? (hide spoiler)]

1. They didn't have the tech figured out for non-humans yet (I think this was mentioned in Heaven's River).
2. Yes. In fact it's an idea for a future book.

It's loosely based on a combination of A World Out of Time by Larry Niven and The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey. But I had to make Bob electronic in order to allow replication.

Well, they DID find the mining replicant in book 5. Others could still be found.

Lord Miller Productions has the movie rights.

It's day to day now. In principle, the ebook and paperback go up the same day. In practice, when Amazon took over Createspace, they introduced a lot of additional complexity. The person in charge of putting up the paperback is working through it one glitch at a time.

It's there. There's either a buffering issue or a DNS response issue that affects some people, but the site is up and running. I'm intending to get it moved somewhere else, but I just don't have time to do it myself.

(view spoiler)[Just finished Roadkill and loved every page! Thank you for such an amazing, fun book! Quick question: Did Sheldon get his fuel reserves restored and access to future refueling at the end of Roadkill? Now that Sheldon, Jack, Natalie and Patrick are earth's protectors, I would hope Sheldon could get more antimatter! I guess antimatter is like Sheldon's food! And a growing AI's gotta eat! (hide spoiler)]

As an official representative of the federation, Sheldon would have access to all the resources thereof.

There are parts of me in most of the first-gen Bobs. But if I was to pick the life path of one, it would probably be Bob-1.

(view spoiler)[So there is something I'm not clear about in the Bobiverse. (Just finished Book 4). As an AI does Bob not possess multi threaded processing? There are GUPPY and other AMI. But Bob seems to be very focussed on one task at a time. Is this due to the nature of the AI? Or, and this just might as well be, I have missed something. (hide spoiler)]
Dennis E. Taylor
Bob isn't an A.I., he's a replicant. It may sound like pedantry, but an A.I. would be built from the ground up to specs. A replicant (in the Bobiverse) is a copied human mind, so has all the limitations of the original, but is a speed superintelligence, which just means he can screw up faster.

The two people who I think my writing the most resembles are Andy Weir and John Scalzi. Not surprisingly, I'd recommend their books. Golden age or less current authors include Larry Niven, Poul Anderson, Steven Gould, Jack McDevitt, David Brin. Others, Gene Doucette, Robert Sawyer. And of course Alanson's ExForce series.

1. Rare Earth.
2. Physical, but it's a pretty organic process.
3. Good Place by a wide margin.
4. No idea. And I only every played 5-pin, which probably doesn't count.
5. Not in this universe.

I think the exploration part.

It's possible but a lot of that stuff is outside my wheelhouse.

1. I'll talk to my agent about it. This sounds a lot like an agent-y question.
2. Martian. No contest.
3. I'd be heading for the far reaches. I'm not a joiner.
4. No, that was just a bonus. I wanted the Others to be as nebulous as possible. I didn't even have them provide a name for themselves.
