If I waited for inspiration, I'd rarely write. :)
I try to write five days a week, whether I'm inspired or not. If I can't get into the groove, I find that editing the previous day's work gets my mind working so that I can do my writing for the day.
I should have added that as advice to aspiring authors: don't wait for inspiration, make yourself inspired by writing. You'll find that the discipline of writing on a regular schedule actually makes you more creative and more inspired, than just waiting around for some spark of creativity to light.

I'm working on another Archer family Regency romance: Fencing for Ladies. And I also have a paranormal suspense, Time, in the editing stage, while I'm plotting out another paranormal suspense, Smoke.
Then it's on to another Second Sons Inquiry Agency Regency mystery, Voyage with Death, before I swing around to another Archer family book. Lots to do. :)

My best advice for aspiring writers is two-fold:
1) Write
2) Don't quit
If you can write and finish your book, you'll be way ahead and on the road to being a writer!

The best thing about being a writer is feeling justified when I spend hours daydreaming! After all, my daydreams usually end up in the plot for my next book.

I don't let writer's block control me. ha, ha. It does try, but the only effective solution for me is just to open my manuscript and start writing. It may take an hour to write a single sentence, but I force myself to do it. Eventually, I break through and the writing flows again.

I was reading the diary of an Englishman who had traveled through Europe after the end of the Napoleonic wars and thought: what if he had run into a situation where one of his fellow travelers had been murdered.
Since my two characters, Knighton Gaunt and Prudence Barnard got engaged in my last book, I decided to have them travel through Europe on their honeymoon and run into difficulties. ;)
