Virginia Kantra Hi Camille, I'm so glad you're enjoying the March Sisters!
I live in Raleigh, too. And as you might guess from all the Carolina Beach references, I love spending time on the NC coast. I actually set an entire romance series there (the Dare Island books).
Hope you have a smooth move. Thanks for taking the time to write!
Virginia Kantra Hi Shayla! I tried to make the sisters' books stand alone, but because the stories are set three years apart, there are definite spoilers to Meg & Jo in Beth & Amy. So if you're a "peek at the ending first" sort of reader, you'll be fine, but otherwise you might want to read them in order. Hope that helps!
Virginia Kantra Thank you! Great question.

Little Women (subtitle actually "Meg, Jo, Beth & Amy") was originally published in two volumes set 3 years apart. My modern reimagining, the March Sisters, is also written in two books, with the action in Beth & Amy picking up about 3 years after the story in Meg & Jo. Otherwise the story would be about 800 pages long. :)

The series is all about figuring out what you want to do to live your best life--which most of us are doing in our 20s and early 30s. So some of dividing the story up the way I did was just that Meg and Jo, being a little older, figure it out before Beth and Amy.

There's a natural bond in the books with Meg "petting" Amy and Jo championing Beth. But there are also a lot of temperamental similarities between traditional, nurturing Meg and quiet, self-sacrificing Beth and between ambitious writer/artists Jo and Amy. The younger sisters are in some ways shadows of the older ones.

In Beth & Amy, I wanted to bring the younger sisters out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
Virginia Kantra May 25! I hope you enjoy! (And thanks for asking.)
Virginia Kantra Hi, Roxane. My gorgeous covers are by the talented Tony Mauro (who has also illustrated covers for Stephen King and Nalini Singh). You can see his artwork and read an interview with him at

Virginia Kantra Oh, I'm so glad! Writing Beth & Amy now - my publisher hopes to bring it out this year. I'll be sure to post as soon as we have a release date.
Thanks for asking!
Virginia Kantra Hi, Thomas! Have you tried requesting a specific title from your library, in person or on-line? Librarians are usually super-responsive to requests. If they can't add a book to their collection, they may be able to get it on inter-library loan. But libraries have limited budgets these days. While they may order a new, recommended title (I'm thrilled that Carolina Dreaming, for example, was BookPage's Top Romance Pick for February), they often don't have the resources to seek out an author's back list, especially in paperback.
I hope they can get the books you want!
Virginia Kantra Hi, Becky, yes, it is! There's a little delay because I held out for Sophie Eastlake as the narrator and her schedule was super busy. But she emailed me last week to let me know the book is in production, and I hope it will be available by the end of the month. (I'll announce the official release day for audio on Facebook and in my newsletter, and of course you can always check the Audible website.)
Thanks so much for asking!
Virginia Kantra Hi Jayelle, Eek! Sorry to take so long to reply! I keep forgetting to check my mailbox here. I'm so delighted you're enjoying the Fletchers. My husband's dad was a former career Sgt. Major with the Marines (you can see a lot of him in Tom Fletcher, including the whistle to announce him coming home), so that whole back story is particularly dear to my heart.
Happy reading!
