Beverly Stowe McClure In the middle of the night something scratched on the window, startling me awake. Wrapping the sheet around me, I tiptoed over to look out, and I screeeched so loud the moon fell from the sky.
Beverly Stowe McClure Good question. Scratching my head. Several thoughts come to me. I think this one might work. The mystery of how a non-reader became a teacher and a compulsive reader. Mmm, maybe a new book is in order.
Have a great week.
Beverly Stowe McClure Good question. I haven't really thought about it, but going way back, my favorite fictional couple would be Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. Why? They were a fun couple. They loved each other. They weren't perfect, but who is? Their shows covered topics that many couples, fictional and real, face, and they made me smile. They weren't only a fictional couple but a couple in real life too. They're the couple that came to my mind.
Beverly Stowe McClure The idea for my most recent book, WEIRD NOISES IN THE NIGHT, came to me when I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law. I can't tell you what it is because that would give away the mystery. But I went home and wrote the story.
Beverly Stowe McClure Inspiration is all around me. Sometimes an article in the newspaper that I find interesting inspires me to write a story about similar characters. When I walk outside, a tumbleweed or flower or a little critter like the armadillo makes my mind start whirling with their stories. Often, a little voice whispers a secret in my ear and I'm inspired to learn more about this secret.
Beverly Stowe McClure When a child, teen, or adult tells me how much they enjoyed my story and perhaps it even made a difference in their life. That's what it's all about.
Beverly Stowe McClure Like I said earlier, I work on more than one story at a time. Presently, I'm in the final stages of a YA contemporary, tentatiively titled Under a Purple Moon. My crit partners are reading it now.
I also am writing a sequel to my MG ghost story, A Pirate, a Blockade Runnr, and a Cat. It may work out. It may not.
My third project is a YA historical. I'm researching for it now.
Beverly Stowe McClure It's been said before, but never give up. Writing is not easy. But if you really are serious about making writing your career, don't let anything or anyone stop you.
Beverly Stowe McClure I don't have what I consider writer's block. Maybe that's because I work on two or three stories at a time. If I'm having trouble with one, I go to another. Usually, if I give it a bit of space, a solution will come to me.
