Riley Amos Westbrook I don't really do reviews anymore, I found it was taking up too much of my time. Aly still does them, though, and you can find her contact info on my site.
Riley Amos Westbrook Doing more than promoting your books. Connecting with other authors and readers is very satisfying, and once they're interested in you, they might check out your book on their own.
Riley Amos Westbrook This doesn't come from a book, this comes from a television show. My favorite fictional couple is Mr. Garrison and Mr. Slave from South Park. They push the boundaries of what is acceptable in society, and yet show those who are really there and marginalized in our world. The fact that it's contained in one of my favorite comedy cartoons at the same time is pure coincidence.

My better half says her favorite is Morticia and Gomez Addams. Through thick and thin, they are there for each other in their own way. They go with their own flow, and they still think of their family first.
Riley Amos Westbrook A Certified Nurses Assistant. I was the guy who helped nurses do their treatments, and helped my clients with ADL skills.
Riley Amos Westbrook I actually don't do a lot of marketing. Most of my efforts are spent on blogging and writing, I figure the rest will sort itself out.
As for where I have found my greatest boosts in audience, though, I would say contact book bloggers. They're free, easy, and get your name all over the internet.
The second thing I would suggest, doing interviews. Anything really that links back to your books in any way.
Twitter is great for marketing, but requires a lot of time and effort. The more you support other authors on Twitter, the more they'll support you, so it is a lot of retweeting.
A better person to ask would be one Christina McMullen, she has been working the book marketing sites in an attempt to get a baseline of their effect on sales.
Riley Amos Westbrook I don't do review swaps. I find I become biased in the process if I approach it that way. Still, you're more than welcome to submit your books to the blog.
Riley Amos Westbrook I do! However, my pile is closed right now. However, Alysia who does reviews for the blog is always up for a good book. Details to submit are on the blog : rileyamoswestbrook.wordpress.com
Riley Amos Westbrook I honestly don't know, I tend to flit all over the internet in an attempt to meet and communicate with as many people as possible. Either way, if I haven't really had a chance to speak with you before, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Hope you've been having an awesome year so far.
Riley Amos Westbrook Anything that lets me stretch my imagination. I admit, I enjoy the fantastical.
Riley Amos Westbrook Getting your name out! Seriously, I have done a TON of travelling all over the internet in an attempt to find the best way to promote, and there are lots, but the one that works the best is still word of mouth. So do interviews, ask for reviews, and just keep plugging away! It became much easier when I quit thinking of it as a sprint, and started to think of it as a marathon.
Slow and steady will win the race!
Riley Amos Westbrook Certified Nurses Assistant, I used to be the guy who would go into patients rooms at 630 in the morning, and try to not be assaulted while I got them dressed for the day. Best job I ever had, loved helping take care of others, and I hope to get back to it some day.
Riley Amos Westbrook Depends, are you a priest or a paladin? Shamans and druids are right out, because healing plants are illegal in the United States of Pharmaceuticals.
Riley Amos Westbrook Well...I missed this question by a couple days. Honestly, I find editing to be the most challenging part of writing for myself. Which is why I'm lucky to be married to a grammar nazi that picks apart everything that I've written, and awesome support from others. Without them, I would sound like a complete idiot.
Riley Amos Westbrook Well, if you want to have me promote your book, please send me an e-mail to Rileyamosreviews (at) gmail (dot) com with a short bio and blurb for your book. If it fits my policy (listed on here, I'll e-mail you a few more questions and get it set up in the queue. If you would like me to feature you for a review, send an e-mail with Review Request in the subject and I'll get you further instructions if I accept your book.
Riley Amos Westbrook Through writing? Honestly not a lot. I used to play a lot of table top role playing games, and run them, so I learned a lot about character development and plot continuity with hands on action.
Now, if you mean publishing, I've learned that even in my disorganization, I need to be somewhat organized. I've also learned not to publish until you are 100% Satisfied with a work.(Yes, even 99.99% isn't close enough to publish in my mind.)
Riley Amos Westbrook I live in Washington, where marijuana is legal for recreational use. So I use weed. Also, I search for inspiration whether it be from others work or from nature. And the greatest help, meditation. If you don't meditate, you really should. Need proof?
