An enchanted night it does not take
For rapture to bewitch your mind with serenity
As you watch mystical creatures from heaven dance
Spell-bound by the silvery strands of moonlight
Which haunt the waters of a still lake.
Perhaps it is not such a tragedy that, to see,
You must watch from beneath.

I know a lot of authors do this. I sure tried but it ended up just being really really weird. I don't usually listen to music when I write, but if I did it would be stuff Hannibal would listen to while he prepared his liver and fava beans (classical).
Still, I thought about songs that could summarize Crossing Death chapter by chapter. I never finished it, but here is the Spotify playlist if you want to see how weird and random I am:

I sit in a dark room in the middle of the night all alone until the shadows come alive. Usually that's enough inspiration to get me writing again.
Skipping a scene and then going back to rewrite helps sometimes too =)

I'll give you the same advice that I got which, when followed, made me a published author:
Publish now. Don't wait. If you have something finished, do whatever you have to do to get it out there. Don't wait for an agent to come knocking on your door or a 2 million dollar advance from the big publisher in the sky.
Publishing has changed since I released my first book in 2006, and self-publishing isn't a dirty word anymore. I know many authors who have turned down contracts to stay in the indie market, because they are more successful there and it makes financial sense for them to stay in the indie game (with complete control over their work, by the way). How much better will it be to approach a large house or agent with 10,000 Facebook fans, a stack of reviews from people other than your mother, and proof of sales that go back for months.
Take the time you would spend finding an agent and use it to build a real reader base. Let the buzz build up about your book (please hire an editor and a cover designer - reach out to me if you need help and I can connect you with some awesome people. It isn't as expensive as you might think).
Don't sit on your work. You put countless hours into it. Someone should get to read it! With tools like KDP and Createspace your book could be out tomorrow. PUBLISH NOW!
