Geraldine Perry This summer I'm re-reading books by America's greatest monetary historian Alexander del Mar. I also plan to read Doug Valentine's new book The CIA As Organized Crime and a book originally published in 1913 (or so) called U.S. Money Vs. Corporate Currency by Alfred Allen Crozier. And probably a few more books sprinkled in between.
Geraldine Perry Depends on how bad it is. I might take a walk, relax with my cat, watch a movie with my husband, take a break to think about something else - or even take a week or so off if I need to.
Geraldine Perry I get to learn more about our world and the people in it - surprising things I wasn't taught in school - things that tend to get buried in information overload and can change the way you view things.
Geraldine Perry Just start, keeping in mind the old Chinese proverb that a journey of a 1000 miles begins with the first step. Then be prepared for as many re-writes as possible and learn to welcome honest criticism because it will make you better.
Geraldine Perry A family history book, which came about after we discovered that both sides of our family were pioneers of the Great Dakota Boom. Also, my Two Faces of Money co-author and I have also just decided to begin working on a picture book (for adults) on money.
Geraldine Perry I think it came from a deep need to find better or more complete answers to questions I had. Or to put it another way, hearing my father say over and over, "there's a reason for everything, you just need to find it."
Geraldine Perry Casual discussions with friends and relatives made me realize that too many of us inadvertently over-rely on quick-fix solutions to complex problems, including climate change and how we grow our food. At the same time we fail to realize that monetary policy - or if you like the money power - governs to a very large degree how we grow our food and in turn what we eat or even what we think of as "healthy" to eat, what energy systems we are most likely to support, and how we choose to deal with things like climate change.
