Corey Schultz Carter Sorry for the delayed response. My novel, Shadows of Deception, is fictional. I dreamed up the idea and wrote the first three chapters years before I published the book in December 2014. When I returned to the story several years later, I sat down and just started typing, allowing my thoughts to flow freely and my characters to lead the way.

Thank you,
Corey Carter
Corey Schultz Carter I'm one of those writers that has to wait for the mood to strike. In the past 15 years, I have found that there is nothing worse than forcing myself to sit down and write. I learned that lesson in college! My best writing happens when an idea comes to mind, and I race to my laptop because I'm excited to record my thoughts.

Thanks,
Corey
Corey Schultz Carter Sorry for the delayed response. I've just discovered several unanswered questions here. I am working on my second novel and my third short story (at the same time). The novel plot is still a secret at this point, but it will be a romance.
Corey Schultz Carter Hi, Jack! Sorry for the delay. My TBR list is currently backed up right now. If you ever have a free book promotion, feel free to contact me, and I will certainly download the book for future reading.

Thank you,
Corey Carter
Corey Schultz Carter Good afternoon Michael!

I do not use an outline. I would change too much by the end of the story. I considered making an outline for the novel I'm currently working on, but decided against it once again.

Thank you,
Corey
Corey Schultz Carter The one thing that has always held me back from sharing my writing is fear. Now that I have published my first book and a short story, the fear is gone. I'm relieved that I found the courage to put myself out there.

The marketing side of the business is time consuming, so I reccomend that new authors get a head start on that, particularly if you are promoting your own work. I set up all of my social media accounts after I published Shadows of Deception, and it has kept me very busy.
Corey Schultz Carter Just write!! Don't let fear discourage you from taking a shot at your dream of becoming a writer.
Corey Schultz Carter The best thing about being a writer is that I have the opportunity to make my own schedule, work at my own pace, and stay at home with my sweet baby girl. I write at night and during nap time. Not that I have a problem with structure or authority, but it's nice to be my own boss for a change.
Corey Schultz Carter If I get writer's block, I step away from my work for a little while. I'll have a cup of coffee, call a friend to catch up, watch one of my favorite shows, or anything else to provide myself with a short mental break. If I return to my writing, and I still have the dreaded writer's block, I put my work away and start again when I'm feeling more creative. Writing is a fun and creative outlet for me. It is not something that I feel I should force myself to do, so I don't push it.
