I love hiking in the mountains. I discovered the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest years ago and have hiked it many times. I imagined what life was like at the time of the dedication of the forest, and the idea to write "To Echo and Remain" came to me.

I turn off my monitor and leave my desk to busy myself with a mindless task, like cutting the grass or taking a long walk. Inevitably, my thoughts turn to my writing, and often, I have a breakthrough.

I am currently working on an infant's board book that will be dedicated to my grandchildren. I am illustrating it myself and hope to see it go to print by the end of April 2025.
