Writer's block is SO hard. Ugh. Honestly, I tend to wait it out. Sometimes, I try writing something new. Something entirely different from what I'm stuck on. Another tip is to try writing by hand if you usually type on a keyboard.

I wanted to write a book for kids who aren't the usual target audience for children's literature: kids with parents who are incarcerated. I was also thinking a lot about the hard questions kids ask about why bad things happen and how I would want to answer that question for my own child...
