Jaime Lee Mann Hi Kerah, I am so sorry I didn't notice your question before now!

I hire an editor to review my work before I send a book draft to my publisher (Blue Moon Publishers), and then, there's another editor I work with via Blue Moon who reviews it from there. I always recommend that an author hire an editor, or find some "test" readers, to review their work before submitting to publishers so the story can be as strong as possible. I'm not even talking about grammatical errors here, but overall story structure, gaps, plot, etc. These are things that the right editor really helps with. If someone in Canada were to search for an editor, I would recommend Editors.ca as a good starting point, or just go straight to my editor, Christine (ManleyMannMedia.com) :)

To find a publisher, I suggest doing lots of research and finding out which publishers put out books similar to those you write. Then, look at their submission guidelines, and write an amazing book proposal. I hope that helps!
Jaime Lee Mann Hi Stacy! I've published five books under my own name, but I've written about a dozen as a ghostwriter :)
Jaime Lee Mann Hi Kerah! Great question. At this very moment, I'm working on the next book and am trying to come up with the perfect name for a new character! I put a lot of care into the names I use. Some, I borrow from people I know, like Krystal (my sister), Starla (friend), and Novah (my mother). Some are from children I meet at school visits, like Naleah. Others just come into my head, somehow, like Grimblerod. I sometimes will use baby name books to help me come up with the perfect name, too. One thing I try to be very careful of is not using names that are commonly used in other stories (Ariana, Elora and Calla). I try to use interesting names that would suit a long ago fairytale world (Freya, Fibryn). And sometimes, I just like using fun names for pixies and fairies, like Cinnamon and Fidget! Do you like the names I've chosen? Do you have any suggestions for future character names? :)
Jaime Lee Mann It came through desperation. I was making up a story to try and lull my daughters to sleep. It stuck and became a series of novels!
Jaime Lee Mann The inspiration for me doesn't ever leave. My problem is finding time to answer the call to write!
Jaime Lee Mann I'm still taking copywriting projects through my business and I'm busy with that, as well as with finishing work on the second and third novels in the Legend of Rhyme series.
Jaime Lee Mann To keep writing. There is only one way to be a writer, and that's by writing.
Jaime Lee Mann That I get to earn a living from my imagination. If you can find a way to get paid for making stuff up all day, I would recommend doing that. :)
Jaime Lee Mann I step away from my computer and go back to pen and paper, scribbling away until I come up with an idea. My brother recently bought me a cool old typewriter, and I see myself now using that to allow me to focus and punch out some new ideas.
