Before becoming a novelist, Andrew C. Phillips served his country as a Naval officer, and then spent more than three decades working with children and families as a teacher, Home/School Coordinator, and elementary school principal.

Those years taught him something that continues to shape his writing: every child has a story, and sometimes the most important stories are the ones we fail to hear while there is still time.

His debut novel, In Jake's Shoes: A Father's Journey Through Loss and Redemption, explores grief, family, forgiveness, and the enduring power of being heard. Through a series of childhood letters discovered after a tragic loss, a father begins to understand the son he thought he knew.
