My story is a bit different in that my husband is not baptized and grew up in a Muslim family and culture. It literally took me 40 years to figure it out. Talk about a crisis!
So, my journey has been strictly solo, which is okay. As you said, "God is infinitely greater than our minds."
God bless you.

I hold a master degree in Culture and Spirituality. And if there is one thing I learned is that we are our stories. Each one of us is a beautiful story.
Hi, I'm Manny. I'm a moderator at the Catholic Thought book club here on Goodreads. I thought it a good idea to join here too.

Hello, I'm Jack. I'm a Catholic convert trying to learn as much about the faith as possible. I find myself reading a lot and using Goodreads a lot to track my reading so thought I would get more involved with some groups!
Hello Jack. Welcome to the faith. I myself am attempting to get more involved with some groups but reaching marginal success. It's my fault as I'm too busy and don't dedicate enough time to it. As a theology student I have learned one thing that didn't always dawn on me and that is to dig into the background on what I'm reading and who the author is. Is the author(s) catholic themselves for instance? In any case this is a great spot to be.

For me, Avery Dulles' 'Models of the Church' offers a good foundation for understanding catholicism:

Welcome Jack! I converted many years ago. Catholicism is rich, deep and learning it never ending! Blessings!

I for one, enjoyed learning about Nietzsche in college, and my fascination with his view of salvation history has increased through the years. In grad school, I developed a deeper passion for Scripture also from a historical perspective.
I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area in California most of my life. I grew up with a deep love of Franciscan spirituality.
Manny wrote: "Hi Gianluca! Did you attend Pope Benedict's funeral?"I wondered the same thing, Manny. How great it must be to be living and studying in Rome!
Ave Maria! My name is Fr. Jacob Powell. I am a cradle Catholic, a diocesan priest in Texas, and pastor of two small parishes. I am launching a book called "Praying With Our Sorrowful Mother," which is intended to facilitate meditation on the seven sorrows of Mary. This devotion is so helpful right now when so much confusion, division, and selfishness is rampant. I believe Our Lady of Sorrows is our refuge in strife. May the blessing of God on all in this community.
Ad Iesum per Mariam,
Fr. Jacob P.
Launch Day is February 15th on Amazon and other retailers (print and ebook).

Thank you, Fr. Jacob Powell. I just put your book on my Kindle to take to Adoration with me today; it will be perfect for Lent. God love you and keep you safe.

Hello. I found this group when joining this website. I was heavily displeased by all the "recommended Catholic" books being about "Queer" people who have turned on the Church. So I'm hoping to find some actual Catholic books I haven't read yet.

Interestingly, I have never heard nor read books about "Queer" people. So can't help you there.
Hopefully, you will find something of interest as you continue your search.
Be blessed,

Hi. I'm Sandralena Hanley, an author of epic adventures for Catholic teens. My favorite hobby is reading. I enjoy many genres: spiritual, mysteries, classics, fantasy, sci-fi, westerns, adventures. Check out my book reviews!
In an age of trashy books for minors, I weave Catholic virtues into my own novels. Champion of Valdeor is about a princess who must practice the 7 virtues to win her throne.
G'day everyone, I am a 31-year-old man living in the heart of the Alps in Austria and was baptized Pentecost last year after searching for most of my life for purpose as an atheist ... and oh boy did I find meaning in my life.Currently, I aspire to become a Cistercian monk in the next few years and hopefully open my heart each day a little bit more for our Lord & Savior.
I mostly hope for good recommendations for my bookshelf as I often struggle a bit with having too many books that require a lot of concentration and not enough relaxing books that I can read to chill out, while not diving into the depths of some kind of evil by accident.

May God continue to bless you as you continue your pilgrimage with The Lord!
As far as a Good Book to read, well you know it! The Holy Bible!
Just pray, "Come Lord Jesus ... ", open up the Scriptures, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you!
Hi all! Long time lurker but I've finally decided to participate in some of the Goodreads Groups I'm in (at least the Catholic ones.) I'm a blogger and indie author and live in a house with my wife, Rose, and one cat, Ninja. Oh, yeah, and walls and shelves of books. You can't swing a Rosary without hitting a book, although why you'd treat a Rosary that way....I love JRR Tolkien (and NOT just for his Middle Earth works, "Leaf by Niggle" is my favorite story of his) and also Tim Powers.
Looking forward to getting to know you all...

Hello. I am a life long Catholic studying for my masters in theology. I really enjoy reading Catholic books. Rome Sweet Home by Scott and Kimberly Hahn is one of my favorites.
Hello, everyone! I am a Catholic author and speaker and write devotionals and other non-fiction (tho' I'm working on a novel, now, too). I enjoy reading in many genres of fiction and non-fiction (there just is not enough time!). Blessed Advent to you!
Hi, everyone! Very happy to join this group - I’m both a Catholic reader and writer! More about that in the author folder - but in the meantime I’m excited to “meet” everyone and wish you all a blessed new year!
Hi everyone! I'm excited to join this group and connect with fellow readers who enjoy exploring Catholic books. As a high school teacher of Catholic Social Justice and Ethics, I’m always looking for thought-provoking reads that deepen faith and understanding. Looking forward to great discussions and book recommendations!
Hi, I'm Andrew Goliszek. My newest book, Like Embers in the Night, is winner of the Literary Titan Gold Book Award and replete with Catholic history. It's based on the incredible true story of two gulag and Soviet labor camp survivors following Stalin’s brutal invasion of Poland.

Hi everyone, I’m David. I’m grateful to be part of this group and really enjoy reading Catholic literature, it’s played a big role in my journey. I came to the Church after many years as an atheist, and I’m always looking to deepen my understanding through good books and thoughtful discussion.
Hello, I'm Janet. Cradle Catholic, public school ("publican"), CCD survivor, baby boomer. Looking forward to reading about what others are reading. Working for nuns in NYC.
" Greetings,I am the author of the supernatural thriller, The Dale. It is a novel about the power of faith and friendship and finding hope in the darkest times.
A young woman must decide whether she is losing her mind, as her psychiatrist believes or her soul as her priest fears.
I wanted to write a barn burning page turner of a book that presents our faith in a positive light.
Hope you, like many others have done, enjoy The Dale.

How do I promote my books in this group? I have published the first two novels in my YA mystery series. My two main characters, a brother and sister, are nominal Catholics at the beginning of the series, but as the series progresses, they will grow in their faith. The books are not stories of faith, but old-fashioned mysteries in the style of Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys sometimes with elements or characters of faith. It is called the Flaugherty Twins Mysteries. The first book in the series is Mystery at the Haunted Castle and the second book is Mystery on Campus. Book number 3, Lost on Black Mountain, I expect to have published by next summer. Find out more at www.flaughertytwins.com.

Hi Carmen. Our similar, but distinct and unique, journeys have been interesting, no? By the time I got to college, I was a full-fledged atheist. I met my wife there and tried my best to convince her how belief in God was a fairy tale. My "rationale" troubled her, but she never stopped believing. We married, had children, and faced a number of hardships and difficulties throughout the years. One day I felt Jesus' presence, and I knew I could never be the same again. I also understood that the mind of God is infinitely greater than our minds. Sometimes things don't make sense to me, but I trust in Him. I don't have to understand everything to believe. Faith is a gift I am grateful to receive and embrace.
