Searching for a lit challenge? "Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste (not exactly true, on either count)..."... My appreciation to the Rolling Stones for usage of their "Sympathy for the Devil".
So, who the hell is Michael Thomas, and what the @##$ is THE LAST GENERATION?
In an homage to Ol Blue Eyes himself, "I did it, I did it my way."... As, my entire lit career has been deposited into a solitary work, unshackled from those bounds of a writing school formula. Yet, in so doing, I'm an outsider, attempting to scale that wall to the castle.
An exceedingly simplistic description to an extremely complex work, but, hey, hunger necessitates that I present a refection upon your plate. So, with that expectation for those idealistic childhood years to proceed in the same Manor, Seth's path was altered by a bullet (of mental health) so forceful, that Mother was pressed to deliver Seth to a facility (Epidaurus), that will eventually extract the innocence of who he was, and can no longer be.
While at Epidaurus, Seth will become entangled to those residents (of multifarious peculiarities) with far more diverse bullets impeding their transitions into maturity than his own. Yet, they'll assist Seth in that metamorphosis to whom he shall ultimately become, and what he must do.
Seth, Jo-Jo, Pregnant Mary, Pez D Spenser, the Preacher, Peter the Rock, Mad Mike, Ollie Crums: the multifarious peculiarities at Epidaurus.
Oh, who I be?
Be I a ray?
A flea?
That tick of oddity?
Oh, who I be?
A whim?
That glee?
Those tiffs with tragedy?
Perhaps, you be peculiar enough? Possibly, you be curious, compassionate enough? Perhaps, possibly, you be participant in this evolution to legit lit?
In a society where our pulsation beats to the rhythm of hurry-hurry-hurry, THE LAST GENERATION offers an alternative. So, to all those bibliomaniacs who prefer to snuggle beside a freshened love after each sunset, without a thoughtful regard to the preceding publication, kindly withdraw this legit lit from your little black book. For, THE LAST GENERATION deserves a commitment, a promise ring on one's finger. Absolutely, page-turning cannot be tolerated on planes. Nor, waiting rooms. Rather, settle your attention to a tranquil nook... Read a little.. Digest.. Read a little.. Digest... Multiple ingestings are most likely essential, as a single dose will probably only diminish its effectiveness.
If you're presently not gripped, I presume those moments to captivate your attention shall only further fade. So, my appreciation for being that receptacle for my voice, and any possible considerations towards my work, and a big hug of gratitude should that receptacle become a megaphone, so that THE LAST GENERATION may settle into its communities (I'm literally giving my work away on my website: thelastgeneration.info).

Malama Island fits multiple genres; science fiction / fantasy, visionary, metaphysical fiction.
Influenced by travel to Iceland, Hawaii and life experiences; Malama Island is a story born out of fantastical images of reality, both experienced and imagined. I'd love to get some comments.
Kawika has spent years searching for peace, haunted by the storm that changed everything. On the hidden Malama Island, he discovers a world unlike any other—a paradise brimming with creatures of myth and mysteries beyond imagination.
Then comes Arthur Jackson—a man determined to prove the impossible is real, no matter the cost. As his dangerous quest threatens the island, Kawika must protect what he loves, even as secrets from his past start to resurface.
Some answers settle the past. Others may stir the future.

A blade is drawn with intent. Kaydee walks a path more ancient than the one his horse trod on in the forest. The prince of Kendi commands the royal guard. It's one of many things about the secluded kingdom, that is different from their neighbours. His uncles had done same before him in order to shield their house. However the ring of mountains on which their kingdom's safety depends, does not shield them from internal strife.
Someone in the palace has caused the attention of foreigners to be drawn to Kendi. Assassins are now crawling all over the kingdom, looking for weaknesses in their defences. They have discovered Kendi's secret and will surely return with thousands more men, if they escape the clutches of the mountain kingdom.
The prince is a blade wildered with an iron will by head the palace guard, his uncle. With the immediate threat seemingly over, they must all find out, how much damage had been done to their lives. Change has come, and there are more dangers for Kendi.
Kendi must face this new world. The prince must become more than a commander, and the man must be more than a blade.
Howdy, fellow authors. Read the entire genre-defying saga for free with KU. It's a conglomeration of modern western, mystery, and conspiracy thriller with a Northern Cheyenne protagonist returning to the teachings of his medicine man grandfather so he can solve his best friend's murder. Somehow I can't quite pigeon hole it with a specific genre. You can learn more on the website https;//www.dead-horse-canyon.com which also includes some book video trailers. I'd love to hear what you think.

A Different Sky is the story of a young Jewish woman’s struggle with generational and cultural stereotypes during the 1970s, but also spotlights all women who challenge the status quo and are willing to sacrifice for others, even at their own expense. This novel is told through the lens of someone committed to deep family ties and a strong belief in oneself. She is a powerful heroine whose character and strength shine through on every page. https://a.co/d/aq4FbuL

What if your life — every success, every connection — was an illusion? These are the questions I pose in my latest book, Disconnected: A Mortal Reality. Although a work of fiction, it delves into the complex issues we face in today's world.
I wrote Disconnected to explore how manipulation rewires our idea of happiness — it's time to question your whole life.

Hi, I'm Annamarie Delaney and I must admit I struggle to navigate Goodreads? However, I've finally made it into this group - I hope. I am both a reader and writer of literary fiction, although the genre seems to me to be debatable. I'm a Goodreads author and all my books can be found here. If I have to allocate them a genre I'd be inclined to say Tales From Chez Jacques is contemporary fiction and Chrysalis To Nightingale literary fiction. Any thoughts? Not necessarily about my books, although that would be nice, but about the classification in general.
Hi everyone — I’m a literary fiction author who’s fascinated by the quieter struggles of modern life: identity, self-deception, the pressure to “perform,” and the invisible forces that shape who we become.Lately, I’ve been exploring questions like:
How much of our daily behaviour is authentic, and how much is shaped by social expectation?
Do we actually know what we want, or have we internalised what we’re told we should want?
How do debt, social media, and the constant push for productivity affect our sense of self?
And what happens when someone finally stops playing the role they’ve built for years?
These ideas ended up forming the emotional backbone of my newest novel, which follows a man whose perfectly curated modern life collapses when an old friend reappears and forces him to confront uncomfortable truths about success, anxiety, relationships, and digital dependency.
It’s not a dystopia in the traditional sense — more of a psychological, near-present realism about the quiet illusions we all carry, and what it costs to wake up from them.
I’d love to hear from other readers and writers of literary fiction:
What themes in contemporary life feel most “literary” to you?
Have you ever read (or written) a story that felt uncomfortably close to your own pressures, habits, or anxieties?
Looking forward to connecting with fellow lovers of character-driven, introspective fiction.
Disconnected: A Mortal Reality

This is suspenseful YA Christian fiction, involving a modern-day treasure hunt in Scotland, with a bit of supernatural thrown in. Blending historical fact and Scottish legend within an action-packed adventure, Treasures of the Lochs is an exciting, powerful story of faith, friendship, and redemption. The target audience is teenage and above (some parts would be too intense for younger readers).
This book is a 2024 NIEA Finalist in Religion Fiction. The novel crosses a few different genres, including Christian Fantasy, Magical Realism, and Suspense. It also hit Amazon#1 New Release for Christian Fantasy. I hope you’ll check it out.
