SUSPENSE! THRILLERS! As well as, mysteries, but love reading romantic thrillers, or suspense, and naturally mysteries. Rebecca Deel is a lovely auhtor who writes romantic suspense, that is clean, yet believable. I like romance, I enjoy reading love/sex scenes, yet if it takes over storyline, then the book is a waste for me. Gratuitous anything is simply to much!
Normally I don’t have a favorite genre, I just like to read what I know is popular. I’m one of those girls that likes to watch a movie and then read the book. I’m not creative enough to make the characters up in my head so I like to take those in the movie and imagine them in my head. But if I had to choose, romance or mystery!
Fantasy, but only really solidly great, award winning fantasy because otherwise the books blend together. I have read so many that it's difficult to surprise me. So I am always looking for fantasy that blows me away with its originality--Mark Lawrence who must have like 160 IQ at least--he's a genius, Seanan McGuire who at her best is unparalleled, Alix Harrow who's balance in her prose is gorgeous, NK Jemisin who wrote the greatest trilogy I have ever read.
I would have to say dark psychological thrillers. However I am an eclectric reader or at least like to think so. This year I have read more horror both mainsstream and extreme.
