J. Gowin Friday will be the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

I'm planning to visit my grandfather's grave. It was from him that I learned to stand tall while facing pain and fear.

VJ Day found him in traction at Alameda's hospital. A plane in which he was a passenger was shot down over a mangrove. He managed to bailout, but his parachute snagged in the canopy, crushing several vertebrae. After he had hung upside down for several days, some Marines saw his chute and repatriated him.

Do you all have any plans?

Stan Morris Anyone ever use the Webtoon site? I have it on my laptop, but I can't find it on my Roku TV.

Fishface Getting thru the all-day training pretty well. We are most of the way through the review and then the test questions...

Maybe they don’t have a Roku app? Does the website say if they have any apps? If they only have an Apple or android app maybe you can use chromecast to the Roku from your phone or computer.

Ha ha! Although the Jersey Shore has some nice beaches, but here in VT has been pretty tropical too, I hate the heat. I moved here from TX to get away from it. I can't wait for Fall!!

Excellent. Much better than I remembered from reading it when it first came out.

Anne (w/ an E) I joined BookSirens and was approved to read and review a book called "Left Without Answers". It's Psychological Suspense/Thriller. I am having a problem downloading it and it is 1am, so maybe tomorrow I'll have better luck.

Got to check back more often. Yes, but this was a special trip, because the friend that used to plan and arrange all these trips died of cancer a few months ago.

Anne (w/ an E) I started a Food Diary today. Some people in my online diabetes group {yes, I am now considered diabetic] suggested it, so I figured I'd see if it does anything for me.
Also, seeing as it is now Wednesday, I am 56 y/o today. /:

Anne (w/ an E) Thanks everyone! I finally got to go to a real Mexican restaurant. Nobody I know really likes Mexican food, so we never eat there. Today we did and it was excellent, imo!

message 426: by Gertie (new)

Gertie That stinks you don't have people around who like the same food but I guess that just makes it more special for your birthday lol.

message 427: by Ozsaur (new)

Ozsaur I love Mexican food, and I'm glad you got to enjoy it on your birthday.

Jennifer Everyone is here is doing the last bit of outdoors stuff that can be done before winter sets in. My sister is cleaning up the yard and putting stuff away. People are out in the trails during the week getting their last hikes/ walks in.

message 430: by Gertie (new)

Gertie Jennifer you know I love you to pieces but I will probably never understand the appeal of living in Alaska with all the snow and earthquakes. I already get so frustrated that we only get half a year of green here in Wisconsin!

But I do love the pics of the aurora borealis you get haha!

When do you have to put snow tires on, is that what is happening now too?

Jennifer Gertie wrote: "Jennifer you know I love you to pieces but I will probably never understand the appeal of living in Alaska with all the snow and earthquakes. I already get so frustrated that we only get half a yea..."

Snow tire season officially begins September 15th. If you use studded tires that's the earliest you can put them on. My car has these all-season tires. They were on my car when I purchased it. Some brands are hit and miss when it gets really cold, but they were fine last winter.
People talk about winter tires here all the time. :)
I decided that when its time for new tires that I might get summer tires and then go back to studded tires in the winter, We are getting more rain and more ice on our roads the last few years. And I think studded tires will be better than Blizaks .

Lupe Dominguez Y’all. I just finished a monster romance…with Mothman. I feel like someone needs to take my reader card away 😂

To be fair, the author can tell a story. Like, that part was fine. But mothman. I can only laugh at myself lmao.

I might find that hard to resist myself. I would just want to see what could possibly be in that book.

Anne (w/ an E) I came across my old iPad, from at least 15 years ago. It stopped working and wouldn't charge. It ended up coming with me when I moved [and I misplaced it]. I found a place online and I chatted with "Zia" tonight. Looks like the nearest place that will wipe all my information off so I can recycle it is in the next state. It's not really that far, but it sucks that Zia couldn't help me do it online.

message 442: by Fishface (new)

Fishface Great news! The boss emailed us to say we have been given two 2% raises. A base-pay raise and cost-of-living raise. Why they don't just call it a single, 4% raise is beyond me, but I'll take it.

message 443: by Ozsaur (new)

Ozsaur Congrats, Fishface!

message 444: by Lupe (new)

Lupe Dominguez Longest. Work. Day. Ever. We have senior pics for the kiddo this weekend (had to be rescheduled from last month bc of weather) so I'm excited for that!

message 445: by Fishface (new)

Fishface Weirdly long, yet short day today. I was signed out in a conference room from 9 to 6 today but we were done with the training by 3 p.m. This gave me time to catch up on phone calls. One call was placed to my office desk number by the guy who sold me my new phone a couple of weeks ago, which was kind of unnerving. But I had enough time left over after that to clear out most of the Disputed Cubicle in my department...and I even remembered to make copies of materials for a Halloween display to be set up in said cubicle.

Jennifer Had voting training yesterday. We have a local election next week. So I will be working the Poll Tuesday.
