Fishface I feel cold despite wearing a sweater over a thermal shirt. A/C still on!

I have to say I was alarmed just now when I broke open my fortune cookie and there was nothing inside. Am I going to die

message 359: by Gertie (new)

Gertie You are not. Well, you are not, yet.

Maybe it's a sign that it's time for a new job. Writing fortunes.

For what it's worth, most weeds are much easier to pull after a rain!

Lupe Dominguez *sigh* there is only a handful of days left of school and my kiddo went on lockdown this morning because of a possible gun threat. Everything is fine, he's fine (mostly annoyed because it made him late to his culinary school in the afternoon) but it's just like...c'mon. I can't with this constant state of hyper awareness because people and guns. Anyways. How is everyone else??

On the positive side, at least in my area, I've been happy with how the school and law enforcement responds to threats like that. It's sad they have to deal with that, but I'm glad they take them seriously.

Fishface This was originally going to be a vacation day for me because I need to burn off some of that time. Well, I asked to work that day after all because this was the last day they were offering CPR training before I was going to be overdue for it. I added an appointment at 10 a.m. because the training started at noon. Well, sir, my 10 a.m. no-showed on me and I raced to eat lunch after talking to them and finding out why. (If you are even a minute late for CPR they won't let you in.)

The CPR trainer cancelled 10 minutes before the training was supposed to start.

So I tried to reach my plumber who no-showed on me on Wednesday. Straight to voicemail. I elected not to leave a 5th message.

So I'm calling my management company to ask why my automatic dues deductions are a different amount every month. Still on hold.

Just a lonely day.

Used all my empty time to rebuild the listing of photos of all the Randy Kraft victims I could find and adding the cryptic notations from Randy's "scorecard," a stained list found in the trunk of his car reflecting 61 murders. It was a ton of work and this list has vanished from GR three times, so take a gander before it vanishes again. RIP guys:

Rebecca I deleted my Linked In a long time ago, too many scammers, and then I was being added to people I didn't know, no thanks.

message 378: by Stan (last edited Jun 20, 2025 12:10AM) (new)

Stan Morris I see that I have not checked in since Feb. We had a good time in Japan, but it was cold until the last two weeks. We arrived before the cherries bloomed, watched them bloom, and then left after the greens had lost their blossom and had turned green. For the first week we stayed in a four bedroom house in Higashinakayama, Chiba, which is a suburb of Tokyo. We were three minutes from the railway station. It was a very nice home, but cold. Luckily we had a super shower room.

For the next seven weeks we lived in Sugamo. It was a weird two story place that was comfortable and close to transportation, including the famous Sakura tram. That was the video house. For anyone who saw the video, it was not the normal way to get to the house; there is a bus station a minute away and a subway station about seven minutes away.

We visited Kyoto, Osaka, Himaji, and Mt. Fuji. It was a great trip, and we might go back next year, but my physical and mental deterioration was evident. I was okay in the morning, but by 3pm I was not a reliable guide, and when we were at the Tokyo Skytree I became so tired I had to take a cab back to our house.

I'm glad to be home again, but I've gain quite a bit of weight. Nothing like walking seven miles a day to keep you fitbit.

Fishface This is turning out to be the 2nd totally infuriating week in a row. If I told you why I would be violating HIPAA.

message 381: by Gertie (new)

Gertie Sounds like a whirlwind Stand!

I have LinkinIn and have every type of notification turned off. Had to create one for my dad (and also manage it) and boy is it annoying. I get notifications for the dumbest stuff that is obviously automated in some fashion. Plus some things offer no way to disable, you just have to delete them.

Anyway for myself, it is my hope that this is my last job so I can just fucking delete it later, because that would be satisfying.

Fish I am sorry you're having a crap week! I hope week 3 is much better!

message 382: by Fishface (new)

Fishface It was so awful on my day off Monday -- 94 degrees F and pushing 90% humidity -- that I went to the movies for the first time in ages. Really enjoyed the strangely positive and hopeful apocalyptic sequel, 28 Years Later.

Stan sounds like a great trip ! I have been thinking about you. Maybe its time to just take it easy and on trips just say ok, we do stuff in the morning, but in the afternoon, we relax and order food in.

Good to hear from you, Jennifer. That's what we usually do. This time our son traveled with us and stayed three weeks. That was good, but then my brother and SIL arrived and stayed two weeks. That was hectic and wore me out. I would like to make one more trip to Europe to visit countries we've missed. And I'm sure we will do another trip to Japan and maybe S. Korea. Those are easier, because it's only one long flight.

I'm looking forward to seeing that one. The heat has been awful here, on those days we've been cooped up in my bedroom with a window AC unit and my pup is not happy about it because she can't look out the window lol

My mom and sister really enjoyed their trip to S. Korea several years ago.

I want to go to Europe. I have an uncle in Vienna and also a friend who has an apartment in Vienna that I can stay at. 9 floors up... and they have been talking about installing an elevator for years apparently. :) So I have some options. Airfare directly to Vienna is kinda spendy I was looking at other options.
Croatia would be nice to visit as well. One of my coworkers is from Croatia so she can kook me up with stuff as well.

One option would be, fly from Anchorage to Iceland, layover for a day or two, and then fly on. We've gone though Iceland a few times. It's nice to have a couple of days to adjust to the time change, and Icelandic Air has free layovers.

message 391: by Stan (new)

Stan Morris Maybe not. Icelandic Air does not fly to Iceland from Anchorage direct anymore.

message 392: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Stan wrote: "Maybe not. Icelandic Air does not fly to Iceland from Anchorage direct anymore."

I was looking at all the airlines and options. I keep checking. I also considered one of those group tours for solo travelers , going to Vienna, maybe Croatia , I would like to go to Bruge.

Its a bummer they don't have that flight anymore/ but then I think it only was during the summer.

I have a friend who was in Iceland recently. I would love to go back.

message 393: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca I would love to go to Croatia, they have the singing stair case, but I'm not sure I could handle that long of a flight.

Jennifer, let us know if you go an how your trip was/is.

Fishface I had an odd moment yesterday. Started re-reading Say You Love Satan, about a famous murder case from the Satanic Panic era, and this week I also started up again seeing a client I have not had contact with for a while.

It dawned on me last night as I was opening the book that my client is a dead ringer for the killer. His photo is on the front cover. They could be brothers!
