I would be so mad haha.

Roger Jackson Erin wrote: "Roger wrote: "Hi guys. How is everyone?"

Doing good, how about you?"

Not bad. Been busy and haven't been on here for some time. Thought I would drop in.

Trying to stay warm, like everyone else. Sitting here working and listening to the dog snore on the couch.

message 253: by Gertie (new)

Gertie We are pretty cold here in Wisconsin but that's nothing new to many parts of the U.S. I know it's really cold when the critter food I put outside doesn't get eaten.

I've been making some ice candles, so fun and pretty!

message 254: by Gertie (new)

Gertie Reminder we are about to discuss The Midwich Cuckoos. The audiobook is interesting, multiple narrators. It's only 2 hours long!

message 255: by Lawrence (new)

Lawrence Glad to see Roger drop in. I’m here sporadically myself.

It’s chilly here in New Jersey. When I head out to the gym in the morning, it’s single digits, but…it’s not windy so I don’t really feel it.

Gertie, I’m behind. Day Zero just got to my library for me to pick up. I’ll begin that next week.

message 256: by Roger (new)

Roger Jackson Good to see you Lawrence. I need to go to a gym, but my arthritis complains when I do too much. But that is changing. I've had some treatments in my hips over the past year called PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). They take your own blood and run it through a centrifuge, then inject it into the hip joints. The platelets have healing properties that really do help with mild to moderate arthritis. My hips are much better now. I'm going to have it done in both knees next. Hopefully this summer I can get out and exercise more.

message 257: by Gertie (new)

Gertie That's interesting, I haven't heard of that treatment!

Jennifer All is well here. You think you have crazy weather, its in the 40s (above zero) and raining. Next week we are supposed to have our normal minus 30 temps. Today we have snow. Ask me how the roads are after it freezes again... yesterday the hospital sent people home because of road conditions.

Fishface Erin wrote: "Yeah! Imagine deciding to go to Florida, to get away from the cold/snow, just to end up being in more cold and snow."

Last time we went down from Michigan it was 35 freaking degrees. That was years ago, but the memory lingers on.

Lawrence Roger, I’ll have to tell my wife about prp. Her hips have been giving her grief. First I have to get her to the doctor. She is more stubborn than me when it comes to seeing a doctor.

Roger Jackson Lawrence wrote: "Roger, I’ll have to tell my wife about prp. Her hips have been giving her grief. First I have to get her to the doctor. She is more stubborn than me when it comes to seeing a doctor."

I know how difficult it is to do anything when the hips hurt like that. I had tendinosis in my hips in addition to arthritis. PRP helped with both. I had to do some PT after the tendon shots but they feel good now. They worked for me.

I like the treatment because it only involves my own cells, no medications or pig parts. :)

message 262: by Roger (new)

Roger Jackson I was 51 F degrees here yesterday, after having single digit temps for a few days. I wore a light jacket when I went out, instead of three heavy layers. We're expecting warmer temps the rest of the week.

Oh, I may have to go out and do some yard work now. Bummer

message 263: by Fishface (new)

Fishface A lot of things are going well, but I'm not feeling it because Google Images revealed why my one friend from college hasn't responded to my attempts to contact him. His smoking finally killed him. That guy should have outlived me, for Pete's sake.

I hate smoking so very much.

I'm so sorry. That's terrible news. I just saw news of a family member's passing from cancer today so I understand the grief.

message 275: by Charlton (new)

Charlton This past Monday I fell on my butt (hard!), I lay on my hardwood floor a few minutes. When I was able to crawl into my bed I rested for a bit then my wife was able to make an appointment with my Dr. for that day. I was then sent to an outpatient clinic for x-rays, nothing broken or cracked just sore muscles. I didn't know I had muscles in this part of my body. Mostly real low back, high buttocks.
This has been my first day on GR since Monday.

Roger Jackson Saturday we had tornado watches and flood warnings all around us. Temps were in the 70s (F). Coming up on Wednesday we have winter storm warnings and single digit temps (F) at night. Welcome to Tennessee!

message 296: by Lawrence (new)

Lawrence Thanks everyone. I’m back home today, only half as bad as November. I’ll post something in the How’s your health file.
I actually read a chapter in Day Zero.
