That sounds like a horror movie premise hahaha

Maybe, since I wouldn't want a worm in my candy cane! Especially one that stands upright wearing a hat and one shoe!

Anne (w/ an E) Today [Saturday 12-21] is Don't Make Your Bed Day! Tomorrow [Sunday 12-22] is Short Person Day!

Gertie Haha! Do you all make your beds? I tend to leave it messy. Maybe married people are probably more likely to make their beds?

message 206: by Charlton (new)

Charlton As a married person,I don't think that's the issue.

message 207: by Gertie (new)

Gertie Haha!

Erin Gertie wrote: "Haha! Do you all make your beds? I tend to leave it messy. Maybe married people are probably more likely to make their beds?"

I do! (not married). It's just something I've always done, even as a teenager.

message 209: by Nancy (new)

Nancy I make the beds. I feel like the room is tidy and looks larger when the bed is made. If it’s not made, I feel a little stressed or anxious for some reason.

message 210: by Anne (w/ an E) (new)

Anne (w/ an E) When I was married, I used to make the bed. Now that I am not married, I only do it when it is very messy-I can't sleep in messy sheets.

message 211: by Lawrence (new)

Lawrence Married..and I will make the bed, though my wife doesn’t like how I do it. I defer to her in this case.

message 216: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I am actually going to a friend's house for a little New Years celebration this year, it's supposed to be pretty frigid out so, will have to plan accordingly.

message 217: by Erin (new)

Erin My birthday is New Years Eve and it's a major one so I'm sure there will be a celebration of some sort.

message 218: by Gertie (new)

Gertie Christmas was nice. I got to see my brother and his husband and the BIL's mom on Christmas Eve, then just the guys and I for Christmas. Home cooked food, faux coquito to drink, dominoes.

Back to work now... :-( BUT we get Wednesday off! I take it many of you do as well.

message 221: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Hubby’s birthday is New Year’s Day. Each year the birthday person in our family gets to pick a restaurant to go to. He always gets screwed because most restaurants are closed, LOL. So I called and the restaurant he picked is closed, so we are going out tonight.

message 231: by Fishface (last edited Jan 13, 2025 12:10PM) (new)

Fishface After a seemingly small decision was made at work, I suddenly:

A) found myself so full of energy that I managed over the weekend to haul heavy object through the snow into my house after putting it off when the weather was better and the sidewalk easier to traverse;

B) had an idea about how to fix something small but important in my house and actually managed to repair it on the first try;

C) found the wherewithal to do some of my most-hated, most-postponed household chores;

D) finished reading two books in 2 days;

E) came up with ideas for 2 blog entries AND POSTED THEM;

F) did some very important mop-up work regarding how to get very important data collection done by the agency, even though the website is down, and even though nobody told me to solve this problem;

G) created and collected all the materials for a training I am giving in a few days, that I volunteered for rather suddenly on short notice;

H) ...and so on and so forth, including baking a double batch of cookies that are usually too many steps for me to bother with.

I had no idea just how tired I was before, and I sure had no idea why.

message 232: by Gertie (new)

Gertie Did those things have anything to do with the decision at work?

Does this feel like a permanent new you or are you riding the high energy wave while it lasts? :-P

message 233: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Good for you Fishface!

message 234: by Erin (new)

Erin That's pretty amazing!

message 235: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I am exhausted reading that post ! :)

Not much going on here. We had crazy warm weather, in the positive 40's (January 4th it was minus 40) .

The kittens got neutered last week. They are 6 months old. My mom has described them : Karl is the Cheetah, Jaguar and Geoff is a lion.

message 236: by Lupe (new)

Lupe Dominguez Just returned from Mexico and came back to 14 degree weather and snow. Is it fair to be mad about this?? haha darn midwest weather

message 237: by Fishface (new)

Fishface I finally bearded a mystery in its lair yesterday. The weird gurgling in the downstairs powder room, which always stopped as soon as I approached to investigate, has proven at last to be a leaky something-or-other in the toilet. My plumber says the part will take half an hour to replace and costs $12.

Fishface Gertie wrote: "Did those things have anything to do with the decision at work?

It was the work decision. My supervisor, who has been quietly driving me crazy for a long time, rather suddenly suggested that I change to the other supervisor on the team. I felt my heart lift off the floor for the first time in a long time. I thought I was struggling with work burnout, but I realize now I am struggling with HER work burnout and total ineffectiveness that -- for over a year -- has made me feel as if I were the one supervising her. If I never have to hear another word about one of her bowel movements again it will be MUCH too soon.

message 239: by Charlton (new)

Charlton Good for you Fishface,so maybe things are looking up for you!

message 240: by Gertie (new)

Gertie Haha! Well, in that case congratulations on less hearing about her bms.

message 241: by Ozsaur (new)

Ozsaur Fishface, I'm so glad you found the "cure" for you lack of energy. Begone, supervisor!

I could definitely go for someplace warm right about now, lol.

Craziness. Yesterday and the day before here (MI) was single digits. When I woke up this morning, it was -3F, it's finally 14F now. But it feels like -7 so IDK if it's really 14 haha.

Yeah! Imagine deciding to go to Florida, to get away from the cold/snow, just to end up being in more cold and snow.
