Toney Baus Hello, Ms. Lynn and All.

I have two fantasy titles as Kindle editions. My most recent book is "Petals in the Hail," a mature work, and here is the link:

https://www.amazon.com/Petals-Hail-An...

Hard to classify, I'd say High Fantasy / Coming-of-Age / LGBTQ Romance.

Sarah Plestid Hello Everyone,

My name is Sarah Plestid. I joined a little while ago but just having some time now to introduce myself. I am an avid reader of young adult fiction (mostly fantasy), children fiction, graphic novels, and children picture books. I am a new children's book author and hoping to contribute to this group - but I mostly have time for children picture books, graphic novels, the occasional children fiction and short stories to review.

Thank you,

Hi folks, just joined. I grew up reading every SF book I could get my hands on, including Arthur C. Clarke, Harlan Ellison, and Larry Niven, although I also like other genres as well. I'm big on Lee Child's "Reacher" books, and also a fan of Elmore Leonard. I published a few short stories in the 1980s in the magazines of the time, and then opted to independently publish my novels in 2013, with my first novel, Ship of Storms . All of my novels are "hard" Science Fiction and Space Opera. I've published two more novels since, and published my latest one about two months ago, to great acclaim and spectacular sales.

Nope. Sank like a stone in Amazon's vast sea of great and not-so-great books. But I still write.

Unfortunately I've lived in that world for a long, long time. It's just gotten a lot worse since my last published book.

Stella Brennan Hello!

I love the concept of this group already!

I'm Stella Brennan and I'm an Australian writer. Killing Candace is based on my creative artefact from my Master of Arts. My current work explores relationship violence and predators who weaponise love. I am also writing alternatives to fairy tale endings where relationships don't always end happily. I also write YA dystopian and New Adult fiction, but for the moment I'm focused on dangerous relationships.

I look forward to reading and reviewing books by fellow authors and I hope to gain a few reviews along the way!

Regards
Stella

Roxanne Bland Hello, all!

I write mixed-genre adult (very adult) speculative fiction, which is exactly what it sounds like. Werewolves, vampires, mages, and aliens. Science fiction and romance, horror and science fiction. What I write is whatever my deviant imagination comes up with. I also don't write in the genre fiction style--except for the genre categories, my books are literary.

I've 3 books on the market, one novella that's not (it's the reader magnet for my newsletter), and a few short stories I haven't decided if I'm going to shop. Two WIPs, one coming out next spring.

I'm game to read anything if it piques my interest.

Dimitry Orlov Hi, my name is Dimitry and I would like to know how I go about having people review my new novel. How do I make my novel available for people to read, how do I protect my intellectual property, etc.

message 73: by Lynn (last edited May 19, 2023 06:08AM) (new)

Lynn Helton Hello, Roxanne and Dimitry, and welcome to the group!

Dimitry,
Everything about getting reviews through the group is in the three Review Sections of the group. The topic Getting Reviews Through the Group is a good place to start for learning about the various ways to get reviews in the group. Just follow the links within for more details.

Your other questions would fit well in The Write Section so why not start a new topic or two there and see what insights other group members might have for you.

V.P. Nightshade Hello Everyone!
I write paranormal romance (adult, light, and dark). Currently, I am writing about vampires and shifters, but I have upcoming plans that will include other types of monsters.

My current work in progress is Growling In The Dark, which is available through pre-order and is Book 7 of my series the Vampiris Bloodline. The series is available only on Amazon in Kindle, KU, Paperback, and Hardback.

I live in Texas and have been happily married for well over 30 years. I have two grown sons, and a rescue dog who is made up of 16 different breeds (that's no joke - we actually had her DNA tested because we really knew she was something special), she's probably the most well-mannered dog that I have ever owned. I also own a two-year-old Cairn Terrier who is feisty and talks - she's also the most spoiled princess, daddy's girl that you will ever see. She's my inspiration for the dog, Princess, in my series.

I write every day unless I am out of town following my husband around while he is shooting in tournaments. When I am not writing, or out of town, I love to read about basically all things that go bump on a full moon night and steamy sexy romance novels. In fact, I am a voracious reader! My reading goal for this year is 150 books - I am sure that I will reach it. I have a thing for a sexy bad boy with a golden heart! But I like the odd alien and monster too.

If you need someone to read something for you because you are lacking reviews and would like to swap reading/reviewing with me. Just let me know. I will read almost anything, including erotica - but I am not much of a children's book reader as I don't feel I am qualified to give a decent review for you because I don't have any small children anymore or any grandchildren. I could tell you if I like it - but that doesn't mean that a child would like it.

Looking forward to interacting with all of you and reading some of your works!

V.P.

Lynn Helton Hello Stefan and V.P. and welcome to the group!

V.P., please note that this group doesn't engage in review "swaps" as that can cause some retailers (like Amazon) to disallow reviews because of a perceived close relationship between the two people. We do however, have three ways within the group to give and get reviews (Book List, Rounds, and Chains) that are set up to avoid that problem.

Mark Miller Greetings, all. My fiction straddles multiple genres, combining those tropes in unusual, surpising, and absurd ways. I love indie fiction that surprises and challenges me.

message 79: by W.D. (new)

W.D. III Hello all! I'm never sure how to introduce myself online, so I'm following the lead of another author who I recently connected with. I love science fiction and fantasy. My first two novels, Crown Prince and Order of Light, both in the New Blood Saga, received The BookFest Awards and Firebird Book Awards. Demon Seed (book three) also won a Firebird. My sci-fi novella, Pale Face, received special recognition from the L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future Contest. I would describe my style as "realistic epic fantasy." Magic is more subtle. The characters have doubts and everyday concerns, on top of the more traditional plot elements. You can find more information at www.Kilpack.net and @wdkilpackiii! Book four of the New Blood Saga, Rilari, was released last February!

Alena James Hi everyone, I'm a writer of dark fantasy with elements of romance. My current project is a series that follows a female protagonist on a road of self-discovery through a new world in every book, where she has to fight her own demons or face the circumstances of unwillingly destroying everything she's ever known. I look forward to having more friends in the writing community to support each other. Always happy to chat :)

Erin Hello All,

It seems like I’m a bit of an odd duck in this group as I am NOT a writer *gasp*. I am, however, constantly impressed by the authors I get the pleasure of collaborating with as an audiobook narrator! (Seriously how y’all come up with stories, characters, entire worlds to build is amazing, incredible, inspiring - if I was a writer I’d come up with a better way to express my awe.)

I worked as a puppeteer, performing live for children and adults, for a decade before turning my attentions solely to voice work. I love working with indie authors and bringing their fantastical lands to life. I’m a sucker for flawed zany characters that still manage to be relatable. I believe that storytelling is the heart of what makes us human and I’m honored to be a part of the group.

Robert Barnard As a new author on the scene, my ambition knows no bounds. I am driven by a deep desire to tell stories that reflect the diverse experiences of the LGBTQ+ community, shedding light on the triumphs, struggles, and resilience of queer individuals.

Through my writing, I aim to break down barriers and dismantle stereotypes, inviting readers into a world where love knows no boundaries and authenticity is celebrated. With each carefully woven word, I strive to create a safe space for readers to explore their identities, find solace in shared experiences, and discover the beauty of embracing their true selves.

My stories are a testament to the power of representation and the importance of diverse voices in literature. By centering queer characters and narratives, I aim to inspire, empower, and foster a sense of belonging for readers who have long yearned for stories that reflect their own lived experiences.

J. Cornelius Hi all,

My name is Jannick and I've only recently stumbled upon Goodreads. I'm a father of two girls with a third on the way:)
My dad introduced me to all kinds fantasy and sci-fi, like Friedman, Zelazny, Tolkien etc., and so I've read many of the classics.
I'm an aspiring author so I will probably within the next year or so ask whether anyone here would be interested in reading an ARC of my debut novel. I will make sure to do it in the appropriate way.

Hello and welcome to the group, Jannick!

We have a few different options to get you reviews for an ARC. Just note that for all our options to get a review you need to also review another's book.

An ARC book can be included on the Book List, in a Round of the appropriate theme that has the designation "GR+ (NOT Amz)", and in a Chain of the appropriate theme, once you have a copy of the ARC ready to provide to readers. See the various Review Sections for specifics, and feel free to ask any question you might have in the "Questions" topics.
