Her..."
I read these years ago and for me the positives were Annie/Max combo and figuring out mystery stories mentioned. The whodunit plots in the books sometimes seemed secondary to the characters and mentions of other books but they were a fun read.

Much more cozy and less dark than the last one in the series I read.

I like this series because it's a pastiche. It doesn't take itself seriously. I also love the fandom because while I know little about Sherlock Holmes, I know literature and literary fandom. The mystery was well plotted and I was shocked Gemma missed a few clues. I figured out WHO before Gemma did but not the connection to the first victim. This series is light and funny, good for bedtime reading but then I couldn't put it down and stayed up too late.

Timely nudge to get back to this series. Next up for me in Death on Demand is #14 Engaged to Die.

The series is a light enjoyable read and I usually guessed the culprit by the end. The characters are fun and Hart does a good job with Southern culture. Though sometimes her references to other mysteries was distracting.

I accidentally skipped the previous book. It didn't matter too much. I am not in love with this series but I keep reading. At first I didn't care who the murderer was but then I got into the story and stayed up too late and woke up too early because I couldn't put it down.
I LOLd at New Englandisms coming to Indiana. I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone say they'd miss someone wicked bad. Usually we use it like "It hurt wicked bad" or "I'm wicked bad at math." But I'd have to consult my sister on that one.

The first in the series, The Body in the Bookstore, is scheduled for release in two weeks, as is the second book, A Murder at the Movies.

The series features an old home in California that has been repurposed as a bookstore, complete with a secret bookcase. The store is a bit off the beaten path and is struggling, so Annie, the MC, comes up with the idea to host a village- (town-?) wide book festival. But when a real-life dead body turns up, it puts a damper on the festival atmosphere.
It appears that a death that occurred before the series began will carry over to the next book/s in the series, which reminds me of Sloan Krause's search for information about her childhood in one of Alexander's other series, but I'm eager to see how that all pans out.

Meh. Not a huge fan of this series because of how judgmental Robbie is. This mystery was slow in the first half and better in the second but the murderer kind of came out of thin air for me.
A Vicious Machination

Another fabulous entry in this Regency set series. I adore the banter between Bea and Kesgrave, Aunt Vera's ramblings and all the other humor. This book needs to come with a big trigger warning. It's all about child abuse! If you've read A Lark’s Tale you know some of it but not all. The mystery was twisty but not impossible to figure out just before Bea.

The tbr groweth!! 😂

At least she's a tried and true author, so you know they'll be good books :)

I'm in the queue and my real life friend promises to read fast when it comes in for her so I can get it ASAP! This better not be the end of the series. I hate to see it end with football! I'll miss Mel and the gang so much, not to mention the cupcakes. I'm also in the queue for her newest romcom AHEAD of my friend LOL! She says her copy is coming in too so we may have it at the same time.

Some of us actually *like football :) I could be wrong, but I doubt the series will end here.

Another series I get a kick out of!

new to cozy mysteries and really loving this one!"
Interesting. Let us know what you think when you get to Cherry Cheesecake Murder or Double Fudge Brownie Murder if you continue with the series. I like the Hallmark movies better, except for this newest one which I found a little boring.

that sounds great!

that's on my TBR list! I want to be Beryl but I'm definitely an Edwina. I love English village novels and hate it when the characters investigate outside their village. The locals are always quirky and fun even if their nosiness and cattiness drives me crazy at times.

Finished a book - and a series! - this afternoon, and I'm sad to see the series end.
I wasn't sure about this series at first, but the synesthesia aspect kept me reading, and the setting and characters grew on me with every book.
I really like Mack and the people she has around her. They're an amazing group of individuals who treat each other like family... and that means they have their differences from time to time :) They work well together and don't hesitate to jump in to help when someone needs it, no matter what kind of help is needed.
When a murder victim is found and Mack and Duncan's friend Malachi is one of the prime suspects, the entire crew steps up to help. That's a tall order this time around, as there aspects to this case that no one, not even the seasoned detectives, could anticipate. There were a lot of twists that kept me guessing until the killer and motive were revealed in the book.
The book wrapped things up fairly well, but I'll miss the characters now that the series has ended.
