QNPoohBear Alice wrote: "I finished The Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries by Emily Brightwell. and quite liked it. With that said I like cozy mysteries. This book was very cozyish (is that a word?) Not much historical... For Historical mysteries I do like more historical facts in them."

Me too but I enjoy this series for the characters and the mysteries. They're all so different. There are references to things going on at the time like Jack the Ripper, Sherlock Holmes, gaslight and more subtle history like the idea women could never commit a murder, forensics, rules of investigating a murder (Inspector Witherspoon's "methods"), women's rights, but there's not a lot of big history and the timeframe is a little vague. I think the later ones are more specific.

QNPoohBear I read an e-arc of Sniffing Out Murder Sniffing Out Murder (A Bailey the Bloodhound Mystery) by Kallie E. Benjamin
If I had known the author was V.M. Burns, I probably wouldn't have requested this from NetGalley. I liked Bailey the Bloodhound but the humans were all two-dimensional. The plot was boring. There was a last minute twist I had only started to suspect.

I do appreciate the diverse cast of characters though.

Alice I am reading Lowcountry Getaway Lowcountry Getaway (Liz Talbot Mystery, #11) by Susan M. Boyer by Susan M. Boyer. This book is number 11 in the series. Instead of being set in South Carolina, the whole family travels to St. Johns in the Carribean. One of my favorite series. The way Ms. Boyer describes St. Johns makes you want to go there. The donkeys are very amusing.

Julie, don't know if it's GR bug or if you forgot to change comment you were copying to edit before copying but the links in your comment are broken.
If it were me, well, it seemed to take me forever to reasonably consistently remember that on GR the comment with links being copied needed to be in edit mode.

I read the first one of these and got the second one right after. It's on the tbr, of course!

I'm hoping to soon (maybe January) do a binge-reading session of all the English cozies I already have, or that are on my Kindle Unlimited WL. I do a lot of reading challenges and usually fit books into them; I might try fitting the challenges into my binge reading instead. Hope that made sense...

The Day That Never Comes (The Dublin Trilogy #2) by Caimh McDonnell The Day That Never Comes, which is #2 in the series. Mind you this was gruesome to me, but may not be to some. What had reeled me in with the first one was the mention of humor within the crimes, and the setting of Dublin.

These paranormal cozy cat mysteries are very much paranormal. Magic cat is wonderfully entertaining.
I read Furry Fortunes last year but decided to re-read because when it comes to the series story arc each book picks up where previous book leaves off. In some ways I wish I had waited and binge read series but I was impatient.

message 780: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear Pink Lemonade Cake Murder was dreadful. Lake Eden is stuck in a time warp and that's not good.

The Game Is a Footnote was cute as usual but ended up a little weak.

I have worked at a museum with a 1750s house and I can tell you that rumors of a haunting do not deter schools, religious schools, Scouts, families or anyone else. It actually attracts more people! Kids LOVE that kind of stuff. Every single day a kid/kids would ask "Is this place haunted?" (me:NO!) "But I saw on YouTube!" (me: No let's go!) Ghost hunts are good for business and bring in much needed revenue. Robyn needs to see that. Poor Sharon needs a life and to learn how to interpret history correctly.

Perhaps they need to shut down in the fall if they don't want ghost fanatics because I can also tell you from experience that what Robyn fears is partly true but mainly only in October!

This one was really good. Sometimes I feel like Krista Davis packs this series full of TOO many plot threads but this one was really good and it all came together nicely. I was surprised by whodunit and who DID NOT do it because frankly I thought there was another person involved. There was too much Natasha for me but it was otherwise enjoyable.

Possibly my favorite cat cozy series. People who have cats have experienced cats who walk through closed doors or are unseen when in location that is in plain sight.

I'm so happy to be back in the village after a trip to New York. I love a good English country village cozy mystery. Maybe it was me but while Eddie the cat is still wonderful I didn't like Minnie as much in this one. I think it was the writing not the character. Some scenes seemed to be there mostly to make Minnie look odd. For instance (view spoiler) Not giving up on the series but hope the next will be more to my taste.
