Alice I just finished A Trip with Trouble A Trip with Trouble (Mountain Lodge Mystery, #2) by Diane Kelly by Diane Kelly book two from the Mountain Lodge Series. Very good cozy. The characters are very well written. She puts a lot of time into developing even the supporting charactes. Love Yeti, the cat, little chapters. Well worth a read.

Karen Of Manners and Murder A Dear Miss Hermione Mystery (A Dear Miss Hermione Mystery, 1) by Anastasia Hastings
Of Manners and Murder by Anastasia Hastings from her new historical cozy series, Dear Miss Hermione Mystery. ** My Review **

My 2023 reading time was cut by a contract I was working. And, I have to admit I got (am) stuck on reading (and rereading??!!) romance. This is only the second cozy I've finished this year. I am so behind in my challenge.

Anastasia Hastings is a pseudonym for Constance Laux who writes romance, young adult, and mysteries under various pseudonyms. While I haven't read any of her romances or YAs, I have enjoyed her mysteries. I've read or started most of the series written under her various names. You can't go wrong with any of them:
* Miranda Bliss - Cooking Class
* Casey Daniels - Pepper Martin LOVED THIS SERIES!
* Mimi Granger - Love is Murder SWEET!
* Kylie Logan - Button Box LOVED THIS SERIES -- Chili Cook-off -- Ethinic Eats -- Jazz Ramsey -- League of Literary Ladies I had a slow start with this series, but wound up really enjoying it.
* Lucy Ness - Haunted Mansion LOVING IT SO FAR!! Looking forward to the next entry.

This farm series is soooo good! I'd say they're worth bumping them up your to-read list.

I have yet to be disappointed by any of her books. I only wish some of her series were longer than just three or four books...

Me too. I love P.G. Wodehouse but sometimes Bertie Wooster and his pals get tiring. I like how Anty is Bertie with a brain and how some characters condemn the idle aristocrats. I hope I have time to squeeze in the next one.

I just read Aunt Dimity: Detective. I was happy to return to Finch but worried one of the quirky villagers was a murderer. The characters are delightful, other than Lori. The mystery was a little weak.

QNPoohBear Muffin But the Truth
This was really good. I didn't guess any of it. The cozy part went on too long at the end though. One chapter would have been enough.

Mark Baker Always fun to catch up with Molly Murphy again. Just finished the latest in the series - All That Is Hidden (Molly Murphy, #19) by Clare Broyles All That is Hidden by Rhys Bowen and Clare Broyles https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 574: by Alice (new)

Alice This book is a boarderline Historical cozy vs Historical mystery.
Edith Maxwell also writes as Maddie Day

I am reading Charity's Burden Charity's Burden (Quaker Midwife Mystery, #4) by Edith Maxwell by Edith Maxwell. It is set in 1889 Amesbury, Massachusetts. Our main character, Rose is a Quaker Midwife. It if very interesting to look into the life of Quakers and plain ordinary people in 1889. So many historical mysteries in that time period are Victorian England or Gilded age affluent Americans. Very good series, but start with book one Delivering the Truth (Quaker Midwife Mystery, #1) by Edith Maxwell Delivering the Truth

Murder at the Inn (The Firefly Junction Cozy Mystery Series) by London Lovett
Murder at the Inn

I'm enjoying these, both the individual books and the series story arc. I read the first two books then read other things before reading the third but had no trouble dropping back into the world. There are several continuing characters to keep track of but the focus staying on the main character helps keep story moving. The build up to the murder takes time and the series story arc occupies a good deal of the book. If you want murder first and rest of book about solving these may not suit you but I'm enjoying the different from my usual cozies structure.

Alice I am reading Cat About Town by Cate Conte and quite enjoying it. I think the fictional island that it is set in is supposed to be Martha's Vinyard. I like our main character, Maddie and her grandfather, Leo. Of course JJ the cat is wonderful. It is well written.

message 590: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear I loved the Bought the Farm series for the most part. I liked it best when Ivy was on the farm dealing with new rescue animals. My favorites are Alvina, the dancing Alpaca and Wilma, the ornery sow. I also love Bocelli, the singing donkey. Of course Keats is amazing and Percy is pretty great too. The whole human crew are wonderful as well. The octogenarians are a hoot.
